The Department of Education, sciences and youth policy of the Voronezh region works on a mail system

Softline completed the project of equipment more than 800 educational institutions of Department of Education, science and youth policy of the Voronezh region, product introduction of Microsoft Exchange Server 2010, the press service of integrator reported on July 9, 2013. In addition, the system of the joint communications on the Microsoft Lync Server 2010 platform is created.

Background

33 district departments of education and more than 800 educational institutions of area are under authority of Department.

Rapid development of information and communication technologies and active policy of upgrade of educational institutions of regions of the Russian Federation resulted in need of reorganization of IT infrastructure, in particular, in the Department of Education of the Voronezh region and structural divisions which are its part.

Earlier the management of Department regularly faced a problem of control of receiving and execution of letters, and the informal postal addresses of users placed in the domains rambler and mail did not maintain the business status of the organization. Thus, conversion of mail resources of educational institutions became a first-priority IT task. It was required to adjust the system of a video conferencing between departments of education.

The partner in the project of upgrade of a mail system selected Softline company.

Job

Specialists of the contractor offered the product Microsoft Exchange Server 2010. In addition, the management of Department made the decision to create the system supporting instant messaging and carrying out audio/video conferences.

The first stage

Transfer process of the operating system on a new single platform of communications took place in three stages. Originally engineers of department of solutions of Microsoft of Softline company prepared DPC of the customer for implementation:

• unrolled failsafe infrastructure on the basis of Windows Server 2008 R2 with Hyper-V hypervisor;
• configured a uniform point of authentication and authorization of users through the Active Directory directory service.

The second stage

At this stage implemented applications Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 and Microsoft Lync Server 2010, afterwards mutually integrated.

Security

In project completion engineers of Softline configured security of perimeter:

• using Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server the antispam and protection of mail started;
• data protection and backup of Microsoft services are performed by System Center Data Protection Manager 2010.

All elements of the constructed system are placed in a data processing center of Department of Education, science and youth policy and afterwards are scaled in 33 district departments of education and more than 800 educational institutions of the Voronezh region.

Alexander Vdovin, the leading specialist of Department of Education, science and youth policy of the Voronezh region, noted: "We only began use of a system, but the technological solution already got approval from the management: the built-in instruments of streamlining and prioritizing of messages in mailboxes and also possibilities of purpose of completion dates of letters and scheduling positively affected productivity of joint activity and simplified control of implementation of instructions. Now the percent of the lost letters is reduced to zero".

Alexander Bogomolov, the head of department of work with the state organizations of Softline company in Voronezh, emphasized: "The project on the scale very significant – it bears in itself(himself) big social function and covers the whole region – respectively, confers heavy responsibility on integrator. It was extremely important to ensure high reliability, safety and performance of a mail system – it managed to be reached thanks to technologies of Microsoft. And implementation of Lync became the first step for transfer of the held meetings between Department and educational institutions of area on interactive Wednesday".
