Cisco vPath is the technology developed for the virtual switchboards Cisco Nexus 1000V. She allows customers to create freely the multi-user multicontainer DPCs working at a basis the politician in the environment with a set of hypervisors.

Advantages

Creation of chains of services at the level of the tenant

The Cisco Nexus 1000V vPath technology does DPC of the customer very flexible, allowing to change chains of services with the help the politician at the level of the application or the tenant. Customers can define politicians and select at the L3-L7 levels the virtual services necessary for the application at the time of creation of the virtual machine or the new tenant. The created politicians are replicated in the dynamic mode and performed on the distributed virtual switchboard Nexus 1000V. If the virtual machine is transferred to other place, the network policy of Nexus 1000V is transferred together with it, and the chain of services remains invariable.

Support of the distributed cloud services

vPath manages flows of packets for all services making the chain tied to this or that policy. After inspection of the first packets of a flow on each service vPath node suggests a local host to lower the loading connected with this service, having permitted direct transmission of all subsequent packets without inspection on service nodes. As a result of vPath increases performance of this service and allows it to function in the distributed mode.

Support of environments with different hypervisors

vPath helps to use cloud network services from the company Cisco, such as virtual gateway of information security, ASA 1000V and virtual WAAS and also the best solutions of partners of Cisco on an ecosystem – Citrix NetScaler 1000V and Imperva Secure Sphere Web Application Firewall.

The architecture with vPath technology is compatible to all popular hypervisors, including VMware vSphere Microsoft Hyper-V, KVM and Xen.

Probable standard of network services

The format of the heading vPath is transferred to the IETF organization as the draft standard of heading for network services of Network Services Header. In the future customers will be able to use dynamic binding of services on a basis the politician using the virtual and hardware solutions supporting such standard.
