2022: US imposes sanctions on company
In June 2022, the United States imposed sanctions on Belavia, Reuters reports, citing the US Department of Commerce. Companies around the world are now prohibited from servicing, repairing and otherwise using American parts or equipment to service the Belarusian company's fleet. Restrictions apply to Boeing and Embraer aircraft.
"Belavia violated US rules by flying Boeing aircraft from Belarus to Russia, Turkey, Georgia, the UAE and Egypt after April 8," the department said. Earlier, the United States took similar measures against Aeroflot, Russia, Azur Air and Utair.
