2025: Passenger traffic growth by 8.4% to 2.1 million
At the end of 2025, the national air carrier of Belarus "Belavia" increased passenger traffic to 2.1 million people. The figure is 8.4% more than in 2024. Passenger turnover increased by 11.2% to 5.5 million pcm. Of the regional airports, 1.7 thousand flights were completed, which were used by 145 thousand passengers. The overall seat occupancy rate was 85.9%. Cargo transportation increased by 59.7% to 3.3 thousand tons of cargo. Freight turnover increased by 92% to 13 million tkm. This was announced in March 2026 by the air carrier.[1]
2025: U.S. official sanctions relief
The Office of Foreign Assets Control U.S. Treasury Department (OFAC) has removed the Belarusian state airline Belavia from the sanctions list. The corresponding decision in November 2025 was published on the agency's website. On September 11, 2025, presidential spokesman USA Donald Trump John Cole said at a meeting with the president Belarus Alexander Lukashenko Minsk that the United States had lifted sanctions on Belavia. Lukashenko announced the "tails" left after the lifting of sanctions from the Belarusian airline "Belavia," because of which it cannot work fully.[2]
2022: US imposes sanctions on company
In June 2022, the United States imposed sanctions on Belavia, Reuters reports, citing the US Department of Commerce. Companies around the world are now prohibited from servicing, repairing and otherwise using American parts or equipment to service the Belarusian company's fleet. Restrictions apply to Boeing and Embraer aircraft.
"Belavia violated US rules by flying Boeing aircraft from Belarus to Russia, Turkey, Georgia, the UAE and Egypt after April 8," the department said. Earlier, the United States took similar measures against Aeroflot, Russia, Azur Air and Utair.
