Infrastructure of virtual desktops of Citrix XenApp in Rossiya Airlines

The Softline company announced in September, 2013 end of a pilot project on virtualization of applications based on the solution Citrix for Rossiya Airlines. As a result work of employees with corporate business applications was substantially optimized.

JSC Rossiya Airlines - one of airlines in the country and the largest – in North-West Region. Since 2011 enters into Aeroflot group. The Rossiya Airlines are based in St. Petersburg and execute about 40% of air transportation of Pulkovo Airport.

Air transportation – one of the most dynamic industries of business. Not to do the modern airline aiming at expansion of the market share and strengthening of a customer loyalty without use of modern IT tools. The possibility of continued and online access of employees to corporate applications and data - irrespective of the operating system or type of the device is not less significant. Optimization of work with applications and cost reduction on service of IT infrastructure was a main objective of the project in Rossiya Airlines.

Specialists of Softline performed design of infrastructure of virtual desktops and performed works on solution deployment, including installation and setup of the necessary equipment and software. The system of terminal access based on the software of Citrix XenApp was as a result created. It allowed airline to reduce considerably the cost of management of applications, to increase efficiency of delivery of any of them at the request of users, to make work with applications and data of safer. The solution operates Windows applications in data centers and instantly brings them to users, reduces costs on management of applications to 50%, increases the speed of a response of IT systems on delivery of applications to the distributed users.

At the final stage of the project systems and training of employees of the customer were tested, the administrator guide and the user instruction are developed. The centralized architecture of this solution allows specialists of airline to support and update single copies of applications and server images, simplifies IT management, saves from need to execute careful verification of applications and to test them for compatibility, considerably reduces costs for routine maintenance.
