Uralasbest

The Uralasbest plant is located in the city of Asbest, Sverdlovsk Region. The mill is one of the world's largest and oldest chrysotile producers. It produces 21% of chrysotile in the world and 45% in the Russian Federation, 78% of the chrysotile produced is exported.

About the Company

Uralasbest is a highly mechanized mining and processing enterprise equipped with modern equipment. Uralasbest OJSC has 11 structural divisions: ore management, an enrichment plant, a motor transport enterprise and others.

Production

The plant operates on the basis of the richest Bazhenovsky field, the explored reserves of which will last for more than a hundred and fifty years. The field is being developed in an open-pit manner. More than 50 million tons of rock mass are mined annually.

The quarry involved 64 excavators with a bucket capacity of 5 to 12.5 cubic meters, 11 drilling rigs, 43 electric locomotives, 48 BelAZ vehicles with a carrying capacity of 30 to 130 tons. The length of the quarry is 11.5 km, the width is more than 1.8 km, the depth is 330 m. The length of the railway tracks is 310 km. The total area occupied by mining is 90 square meters. km

The enrichment plant is a highly mechanized and automated enterprise with complex technological schemes, with a variety of buildings, structures, vehicles, and communications. The total area is 146 hectares. The factory has installed more than 6,000 units of basic, technological and transport equipment.

History

2025: Opening a plant for the production of crushed stone and rubble in the Sverdlovsk region for 4 billion rubles

In Asbest, the opening of a new crushed stone plant "Voskhod," created on the basis of the city-forming enterprise "UralAsbest," took place. The company is designed to produce more than 3.2 million tons of crushed stone, rubble and sand annually. This was announced in August 2025 by the regional information policy department. The volume of investments in the project amounted to 4 billion rubles. The plant plans to create 110 new jobs. Voskhod is equipped with a modern line for sand production and a dedusting system, which significantly reduces dust emissions. Read more here
