The Rostov NPP upgrades corporate network

On December 5, 2013 Allied Telesis company together with Eleron company, 2-Star the partner of Allied Telesis, announce the beginning of the project on updating and expansion of network infrastructure of the Rostov (Volgodonsk) nuclear power station.

Project Tasks

The Rostov (Volgodonsk) NPP — one of the largest enterprises of power of the South of Russia providing about 15% of annual electricity production in this region. Since 2009 the station is upgraded: there is a construction of the third and fourth power units of VVER-1000/320 with a power of 1070 MW. This process resulted in need of updating of the local computer network (LCN) of the power enterprise. For implementation of this task by the customer solutions of Allied Telesis company were selected.

Project Progress

In the project some of the most known and popular products of the company — switches are used AT-x900-24XS and AT-8000GS.

For expansion and scaling in the project the stekiruyemy managed switches of the second level of the AT-8000GS Gigabit Ethernet series will be also used. They are ideal for building of number of ports on network edge using stacking (the customer does not exclude that in the future it will need such opportunity), have two selected interfaces for stacking. At the same time management of different opportunities (such as aggregation of channels, virtual local area networks, mirroring of ports) is performed in switches of the AT-8000GS series at the level of all stack.
