C7 of IT upgrades IT infrastructure by means of technologies of virtualization

On December 23, 2013 the company announced Open Technologies project completion of development and deployment of the virtualization platform of server resources and jobs in C7 of IT.

Project Tasks

By the beginning of the IT Infrastructure of IT C7 Company project consisted of a large number of the separate server systems with local disk subsystems. Servers worked under heterogeneous loading, required an important place in racks, created difficulties in management and serviceability check.

Consolidation of all server resources on a single platform was required for the organization that provided a possibility of fast deployment of new business systems, increases in controllability and accountability of operating, provided the necessary SLA level, lowered requirements to placement, power supply and cooling of the equipment. The platform should be the implementation scaled at all levels (software, server hardware resources, DWH, communications).

As the contractor of the project selected the company Open Technologies.

Project Progress

Specialists of the Novosibirsk representative office made the analysis of the products existing in the market regarding their compliance to requirements of the customer, solution development, installation and setup on the platform additional a component and start of a hardware and software system in operation.

Basic element of the new platform became virtualization software. The efficiency of its work and a set of functionality defined utilization properties of the solution in general. Besides, provided to software a unified environment for consolidation of server resources and jobs.

When choosing a product such aspects as lifetime of the software in the market, existence of effective technical support, efficiency of emergence of updates and its cost were considered. One of important selection terms of the hardware was sales opportunity of uniform centralized operation and presence at vendor of industry technologies.

As a result for creation of the platform approved the equipment and the software:

• products of virtualization of VMware company (platforms form a basis);
• the IBM BladeCenter server hardware (as in it the virtualized communications of IBM allowing to provide effective use of physical network resources for the VMware platform, flexibility in setup and reduction of total number of the required equipment are used);
• the high-performance storage system of EMC VNX optimized for virtual applications (use of technologies of caching and multilevel storage on the basis of the disks SSD for increase in overall performance of a subsystem of storage and reduction of requirements to quantity of disks is provided in this system).

Project Results

The architecture of the implemented project will help C7 of IT to lower the budget on the maintenance of information systems at simultaneous increase in computing and capacity resources, to avoid risks of idle time for hardware causes of failures.
