According to the report of IDC "Worldwide Quarterly Disk Storage Systems Tracker" (December, 2010), in the III quarter of 2010 calendar year EMC won first place in the world market of external disk storage systems from shares of 26%. The solution for search of Google Search Appliance (GSA) on the VNX systems

EMC announced in May, 2011 availability of a new solution to Google Search Appliance (GSA) reducing search time of information thanks to operational indexing of contents on storage systems of EMC VNX. Customers continue to create considerable amounts of data, and the possibility of quick search of the information required is crucial. The new solution representing the connector in the unified storage system of EMC VNX does on these systems available the latest results of Internet search. Jointly two market leaders – in the field of solutions for information infrastructure and search – ensure more productive functioning of employees who can obtain by search continuous data on all storage systems of EMC VNX.

GSA is the step allowing users of IT infrastructure to accelerate obtaining the necessary information and by that to increase performance of the work. Thanks to the new connector the speed and accuracy of search of required data on the unified storage systems of VNX increases. Use of GSA and the unified storage systems of EMC VNX provides to the enterprises:

• dynamic, relevant results of search with the newest data in the unified environments of storage of EMC VNX;
• faster indexing of target or specific contents in the unified environments of storage of VNX – in read minutes;
• more detailed information search, for example at the level of department of the company or the author with support of dynamic navigation of GSA;

Every time when the employee looks for content on storage systems of VNX, for example documents, spreadsheets, multimedia files or the files .pdf, GSA for providing search results addresses the index. Using the new connector, the unified storage system of VNX will automatically notify GSA for updating of the index at change of files. Then GSA indexes the updated contents and makes results available to users.

New integration of GSA and the unified storage systems of EMC VNX automates the notification on events. At each change of the file the message is transferred to VNX to GSA. Thereby it is provided:

• the guaranteed sending the notification GSA at any change of contents, including editing, creation of copies or removal of the file, on the unified storage system of VNX;
• simple event filtering from the system of storages of EMC VNX that target information was indexed and available to search;
• guarantee of availability of results to users.

EMC VNX Storage Analytics Suite

EMC VNX Storage Analytics Suite allows to manage storages using intuitively configured panels. The solution will support work with blocks and files, to show a status of the Cache EMC Fully Automated Storage Tiering (FAST) function and also classes and rules of use of FAST VP (FAST for Virtual Pools). 2016: Release of a new solution of DWH of EMC Unity

In May, 2016 EMC provided a new line of storage systems of Unity of the average level (mid-range) held for use in small and medium-sized companies. It succeeded a line of DWH of VNX. With an exit of Unity, the VNX model of the average level will remain available to the order within one and a half years then their sales will stop, told TAdviser in EMC. At the same time, the VNX models of initial and senior level will continue to exist in a product line of EMC so far.
