Lotteries (market of Russia)
There are several types of the lotteries which are carried out in the territory of the Russian Federation. Types of lotteries are defined depending on a method of carrying out, the territory of carrying out, technology of carrying out, a method of formation of prize fund and the organizer of a lottery.
The law "About Lotteries" of 2003 defined three types of lottery tickets: an instant lottery (when the player knows the result at once), a drawing lottery (the draw of prize fund among players is held right after all compulsory provisions of agreements on participation in a lottery between the organizer of a lottery and its participants are complete) and the combined lottery (combination of types of the instant and combined lotteries). In the West almost all lotteries are carried out by means of the Internet or electronic automatic machines, in Russia the electronic lottery only begins to gain steam.
2010
Until recently in our country among the population, and, therefore, the greatest market share, instant lotteries had the greatest popularity. According to experts, in Russia in 2010 instant lotteries occupied 60% of the market, the share of drawing made 30%, electronic – 10%. In 2012 drawing lotteries began to occupy 45% of the market (instant – too 45%).
The lottery market of Russia occupies only 0.13% of the universal market, according to the report of La Fleur's World Lottery Almanac (2012).
Capacity of the Russian lottery market in different sources is different. It is estimated by a number of specialists approximately at 22-27 billion rubles a year (data of DISCOVERY Research Group), and actually registered is equal to about 10 billion rubles a year. These data there are less similar indicators of the western lottery market. The Ministry of Finance, referring to data of foreign experts, gives such size of the market of lotteries in Russia – $800 million. It must be kept in mind that officially at most the firms specializing in lottery business, sales statements, profit and profitability is shown by the underestimated digits.
2011
According to JSC Loterei Moskvy for 2011 the largest organizers of lotteries in Russia were Orglot LLC (2454.4 million rubles), Sportloto LLC (1000 million rubles), Federal Agency for Special Construction (950.2 million rubles), Interlot (934.9 million rubles), Lotto-Star LLC (705 million rubles) and Zheldorsodeystviye LLC (627.5 million rubles). In 2012 revenue from carrying out lotteries by BINGO-BOOM company made 8170.8 million rubles that testifies to their leading position in the Russian lottery market.
The average cost of tickets for instant lotteries is from 10 to 50 rub.
According to data of Sberbank of Russia, in 2011-2012 the Russian on average spent from 60 to 80 rub a year for purchase of lottery tickets.
From results of sociological polls we found out that today women from 35 to 55 years with a monthly income from 5 to 10 thousand rubles per month, and instant lotteries - women of 18-55 years become buyers of lottery tickets at a draw of drawing lotteries first of all.
