The Russian NTORES of A.S. Popov is a successor of traditions of the Russian society of radio engineers (RORI) created in 1918 and the legal successor of All-Union scientific organization of radio engineering and telecommunication of A.S. Popov (VNTORIE of A.S. Popov) created in 1945. The Deputy People's commissar of communication Fortushenko A.D., Academicians of Academy of Sciences of the USSR A.I. Berg, V.A. Kotelnikov and the member correspondent of Academy of Sciences of the USSR V.I. Siforov were initiators of creation of Society and its presidents. In 1991 in connection with the collapse of the USSR All-Union Society was reorganized into Russian and it was headed by the academician of RAS, the director of Institute of radio engineering and electronics of RAS - Gulyaev Yu.V.

The main objectives of Society is consolidation of efforts and the direction of creative activity of the Russian scientists and engineers on improvement of domestic radio engineering, electronics and communication on the basis of the latest developments of science and technology, assistance to scientists and engineering employees in development of their scientific technical creativity, to increase in professional qualification, protection of their professional privileges and intellectual property.

RNTORES of A.S. Popov holds conferences, symposiums and seminars, will organize thematic exhibitions, auctions and fairs of the scientific and technical ideas, reviews of works of student's scientific youth. At RNTORES of A.S. Popov 27 scientific sections are created.

RNTORES of A.S. Popov develops the international cooperation with foreign scientific and technical societies, including with the International Institute of electrical and electronic engineers and radio electronics (IEEE) integrating more than 30 scientific organizations and with which the long-term agreement about cooperation is signed.

RNTORES of A.S. Popov publishes scientific works of conferences and specialized periodicals.
