Uyuterra transferred SAP to obsluzhivagny to the third-party contractor

On January 27, 2013 the IBS group announced signing of the service contract with Planetastroy LLC (network of hypermarkets of house goods of Uyuterr) on maintenance of a corporate information system on the SAP platform.

Project Tasks

Uyuterra hypermarkets are located in 41 regions of Russia and are controlled Planetastroy LLC company. Growth of the nomenclature, complication of supply chains and development of infrastructure components demanded transition to qualitatively new service level of a corporate information system on the SAP platform implemented in network in 2010.

With respect thereto the company decided to attract the external supplier of services in support of a corporate system of SAP. As service provider the IBS company is selected. The model offered IBS when the supplier, according to the contract, undertakes complete responsibility for maintenance of operability of a corporate information system of SAP, rendering services remotely, completely corresponded to needs of the customer.

Project Progress

After transfer of a system on maintenance, specialists of the service center for support of business applications of IBS carried out the complex analysis of a system status of SAP, its documentation. Based on inspection offered the customer the recommendations about optimization of system operation and upgrade of separate components.

The majority of critical remarks are eliminated in progress in maintenance, it increased reliability of a system, level of information security and high-speed performance. As a result of works on optimization of the DBMS settings and a SAP system and balancing of loading it was succeeded to reach decrease in response time of a system during the work of users by 2.5 times. The set-up time of reports in a system was reduced on average by 3-4 times.

According to the results of the carried-out analysis of system architecture the solution on transition from the SUN Sparc/Solaris platform to virtual infrastructure on the Linux/x86 platform and from the central installation of SAP to a cluster from the SAP application servers was proposed. Implementation of this solution will allow to lower housekeeping overheads of a system and TCO (total cost of ownership) already in the nearest future, to increase fault tolerance of a system.

In addition, backup procedures of these productive systems are optimized that reduced runtime of the procedure of complete backup more than twice, allowed to lower load of the equipment. Improvements in system operation are reached against the background of increase in intensity of use of systems and growth of volume of the processed information: for that time while there is a support of a system, 10 new shops of network are opened.

Igor Mezhov, the CIO and to transactions of federal supermarket chain "Uyuterra", noted: "The retail network is a business which is very sensitive to any failure in work of information systems. Therefore, selecting approach to support of a system of SAP, we proceeded from need to provide the high level of reliability at predictable costs. The support model offered IBS provides us high-quality maintenance and cost management on support. Within the first months of cooperation a number of critical remarks on system operation from users so we see real return from cooperation with IBS is removed".
