"Tape" using SAP becomes Real-time the retailer

On January 19, 2018 SAP CIS and Tape announced start in commercial operation of the SAP Customer Activity Repository (CAP) platform which will allow the company to process in real time information on the movement of goods, a relevant remaining balance on stocks and to implementation of alcoholic products according to requirements of the Unified State Automated Information System. The NOVARDIS company acted as the partner in implementation.

According to SAP CIS, this project – the first in the Russian product retail. Increase in level of service and resource optimization of the company due to processing in real time of the arriving information on checks and documents of merchandising became its key purposes. Based on the platform data on sales and an online remaining balance from all shops of the company are collected and processed. Using SAP CAR Tape creates online reports on turnover of retail chain stores on average in 15 minutes. The original informatin for them arrives from cash desks within 2 minutes after issue of the check.

"Tape" – one of the largest and dynamically developing networks of retail in Russia. In different regions of Russia 64 hypermarkets of network work, 5 supermarkets in Moscow and the Moscow region are open.

Within the development strategy of network in regions of the Russian Federation the company management made the decision to open the new distribution centers (DC) in the Moscow region (Chekhov) and Novosibirsk. In parallel with construction the project of automation of warehouse activity using the SAP solution Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) was implemented.

Project Objective:

Providing the full-fledged environment for management of warehouse processes in new distribution centers according to the standards admitted to the companies.

The project has a strategic importance for territorial expansion and development of operating activities of the company in the respective regions.

During the project:

1. Automation of the following functions is performed:

• - cross docking;
• - Pick-by-line ("selection on the line");
• - rack storage;
• - warehouse processing of fresh vegetables and fruit;
• - internal warehouse processes (management of warehouse cells, inventory, write-off, etc.).

2. The warehouse equipment (wireless data collection terminals of different modifications) is integrated.

The productive start of functionality on each of RTs was carried out step by step, in process of commissioning of premises and the warehouse equipment.

Results:

1. Employees of new distribution centers of Tape received "turnkey" solution - a full-fledged management system for warehouse processes by the time of the beginning of work of warehouses.

2. The project showed a possibility of fast replication of the prepared unified solution on new distribution centers of the company.

3. During the project the procedure of opening of new RTs with parallel automation of warehouse activity based on SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) is debugged.

This solution covers requirements of large warehouse complexes and promotes implementation of plans of the company for business development.

Important features of the project:

• - Step-by-step carrying out productive start of functionality on each of RTs in process of commissioning of premises and the warehouse equipment.
• - Implementation was performed by one project team both from Lenta company, and from the partner in automation of Novardis in the parallel mode for two remote platforms.
• - In a short time replication of the solution, including such organizational aspects as enrollment and personnel training of a warehouse is implemented.
• - Strict requirements to resource planning and accurate accomplishment of tasks in time all project participants. For reduction of risk of the project the strategy of consecutive start of functionality was selected.
