Power Machines implement a management system for media content

On February 19, 2014 JSC Power Machines and Jet Infosystems company announced end of the large-scale project on creation of the centralized control system of media content on the basis of the solution of Cisco "Digital Media" company: AppSpace and EDGE-300.

Project Tasks

The solution, being the effective communication tool, it is directed to accomplishment of a complex problem of preparation, management and broadcast of the corporate media content intended for personnel of the company. The radio grid of corporate television is made by news video releases, information messages about activity of the company, internal and external actions, production indicators and also important declarations for employees and guests of Power Machines concern.

Project Progress

The project included five remote production sites of Power Machines located in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.

At the first stage of project implementation experts of the contractor designed and constructed engineering infrastructure, necessary for functioning of a system: a structured cabling system in premises and the cable lines connecting separate factory workshops and administrative and household complexes.

At the enterprises of concern 48 video points are organized (26 in administrative and household complexes and 22 in production workshops). Each video point consists of a TV panel with the diagonal of 50 inches and the Cisco EDGE-300 mediaplayer connected to it. All mediaplayers are controlled by the uniform server of preparation and management of media content of AppSpace. Communication between the central server and video points is implemented on corporate IP network. The server manages the schedule and loading of communication channels media content that allows to avoid overloads in corporate network. At unavailability of the central server a system passes into a standalone mode of work and players reproduce the last, media content which is locally saved on them.

On a system test stage together with the Office of Public Affairs and advertizing of JSC Power Machines there were prednastroyena necessary scenarios of providing content depending on location of video points. For workshops and non-productive premises content of different type which extends on all enterprises of concern clicking of one button on the preset individual schedule forms.

The specifics of work of the enterprises demanded non-standard solutions for protection of the equipment in production workshops. In particular each transmitting node consisting of a TV panel and a player is placed in the protective case made by the special order, conforming to the European IP standard, the international standard NEMA and answering to the highest class of protection IP65/66.

Project Results

"On the instructions of the Office of Public Affairs and advertizing of JSC Power Machines we managed to create one more effective communication link for dissemination of corporate information, − Vladimir Pulyaev, the CIO of JSC Power Machines noted. – Now, in addition to network the intranet portal, we had an opportunity to broadcast information in a format of video news not only to ITR-specialists, but also for production personnel".
