Description

PoINT Storage Manager will help to reduce the cost of multilevel storage, by means of a combination of the storage systems using different technologies of storage. When using program PoINT Storage Manager time of creation of backup copies and recovery time of data decreases that significantly reduces the aggregate value of the archive solution. A system will replace outdated storage systems with new, in the "background" mode, optimizing these costs for migration of contemporary records between these systems.

Virtualization

The PoINT Storage Manager software product allows is centralized to manage the different devices working on different technologies of storage (the hard drive, the tape and optical medium). Access is provided through standard by Windows the CIFS protocol using a software agent of PoINT VFS (Virtual File System) or PoINT TAFS. It allows to make in the background redistribution of contemporary records between storage devices without stopping or declines in production of the applications using these data.

Archiving

Using software agents of PoINT TAFS or PoINT VFS the PoINT Storage Manager software product gives an opportunity of flexible configuration of the system interface meeting requirements of function of "single" record (write once). Thanks to it, the opportunity of creation of a virtual storage system which combines different technologies of storage from any producers, at the same time, not contradicting regulatory and other requirements is given.

Migration

Data migration is an integral part of the PoINT Storage Manager software product. The software agent of PoINT VFS integrates outdated storage systems (for example, robotic MO/WORM drives) with new solutions for storage of archive information. Using this agent, all files will be in direct online access, and the file structure easily moves from an old system to a new system in the background. As a result, new files register directly in a new system, and an old system can be deleted after the termination of data migration.
