Project Tasks
EPAM Systems enters in a row the largest IT companies of the world, is engaged in software development and consulting. Representative offices more than 8 thousand developers are open in 11 countries of Central and Eastern Europe, in the state. 160 people are employed in division of service - their tasks include support of thousands of virtual machines, hundreds of servers and more than 40 applications. In a month the staff of division processes more than 10 thousand requests of users.
Project Results
"For full use of opportunities of a cloud environment and development of cloud services we needed to automate providing resources — Andrey Kureychik, the technical director of EPAM Systems noted. — The new platform of automation of "cloud" from HP helped us to save a lot of time and means. Before project implementation eight selected employees of support group and also several specialists from groups of system and network administration were engaged in request processing of programmers. Processes of the automated compilation of codes and assembly of releases (Continuous Delivery) serviced more than 20 employees, and they hardly managed to cover only a part of projects in which this methodology was used. Automation of providing resources and model of self-service allowed to cover the existing demand for these services without increase in number of service division. By our estimates, this project completely paid for itself within already first year of operation".
The new cloud environment helped IT department of EPAM Systems to respond to the requests of the different development teams which are in different regions quickly. By March 7, 2014 the company transferred about 2 thousand to "cloud" projects.
The HP solution of CSA plays a role of the broker of services, the packet of EPAM Orchestrator provides a possibility of inclusion of transactions over IT infrastructure objects in a program code. The intermediate level of automation is implemented by means of the Operations Orchestration HP platform (HP OO). At the bottom level providers of cloud resources are provided: VMware vCenter, Microsoft SC of VMM and Amazon Web Services.
"Software developers, such as EPAM Systems, need the highest level of reliability and flexibility for maintenance of competitiveness — Andrey Kutukov, the director of the department of software solutions of HP in Russia emphasized. — An opportunity to create the applications ready to deployment in a cloud, and to manage effectively them is an invaluable competitive advantage for EPAM Systems".
