Shchyolkovo bioplant implements methodology of SAM

On April 2, 2014 the Alan IT company announced project completion of implementation of methodology of Software Asset Management in Shchyolkovo bioplant.

Project Tasks

"In 2013 in the organization the task of assessment of infrastructure and selection of an optimal way of upgrade program and the hardware was set. Besides, such problems as need for corporate mail and the IP telephony were designated" — Sergey Pekker, the head of service ACS, Federal State Unitary Enterprise Shchyolkovo Bioplant told.

Problems of selection of optimal products managed to be solved by means of implementation of methodology of Software Asset Management by the staff of Alan IT company.

Project Results

After the Shchyolkovo Bioplant project signed the three-year agreement of Open Value and included in it all recommended products, such as Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager — for creation of the managed infrastructure, Lync — for the solution of a question on creation of the IP telephony and Exchange - for creation of corporate mail.

"The project was unique for us the fact that not only reconciliation of the software, but also complete assessment of the PC configurations, servers and MFP was carried out. Data collection was performed using Microsoft Assessment and Planning Toolkit (MAP). MAP allows to carry out not only inventory of software, but also deep assessment of the iron configurations" — Alyona Shpigareva, the head of the analytical department and the leading SAM analyst of Alan IT company noted.

The project helped to optimize the scheme of licensing, having saved about 15% of means of total amount which was going to be spent for purchase of software. The selected program of licensing provides with the latests version of software unlike usual perpetual licenses, consider in the management the company customer. According to the results of the project the optimal specification is developed for upgrade of the PC park and servers.

Since December, 2013 Shchyolkovo bioplant carries out purchases of the new equipment and implementation of the recommended solutions. The enterprise continues implementation of SAM processes by means of creation of the centralized control system on the Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager platform.
