Asianet upgrades the system of broadcasting

On April 15, 2014 it became known of the beginning of implementation by the Indian operator of digital television by Asianet company of the solution Cisco for DOCSIS 3.0 implementation.

The third version of the standard developed on the broadband network of the next generation serves as a key component of architecture Cisco IP NGN. This technology increases the speed of loading and return on the broadband network to 300 Mbps – such speed will be received as a result by subscribers of Asianet. In addition to high speeds of DOCSIS 3.0 helps Asianet to involve functionality of the multiservice operator (MSO), providing the bigger volume of services when preserving of the existing network infrastructure. After DOCSIS 3.0 implementation the Asianet company will have supply capacity of services of broadband access at the speeds considerably exceeding speeds of providers of the mobile Internet.

The DOCSIS 3.0 technology will allow to reach "fiber optic speeds" in the network built on the combined optical coaxial cables (Hybrid Fiber Coaxial, HFC), at the same time the price of the solution will be economic. For comparison: the gigabit passive optical network (GPON) is capable to transfer data at a speed of 100 Mbps to each subscriber, but costs for creation of similar network are much higher, than for network on the combined optical coaxial cables. For providing broadband services the DOCSIS technology allows to create new full-duplex network on old infrastructure.
