The Krasnoyarsk project bureau passed to Autodesk Revit

In May, 2014 Softline announced project completion on product introduction of xxAutodesk Revit Architecture 2012|Autodesk Revit]] in "PB the Vertical". Automation extended to architectural department and became the first step to use by the customer of the full-function solution integrating possibilities of architectural design, design of the engineering systems, building constructions and also construction modeling.

About the Customer

The project bureau works in Krasnoyarsk since 2004 and provides services in the field of architectural and construction design of objects of residential construction, commercial and industrial function. In staff of the company - about 50 employees, about 40 of them are engaged in design.

Project Tasks

The guide of the customer needed to optimize work of divisions of the company – to reduce time expenditure and quantity of errors when implementing projects. Respectively, the software product capable to change the design approach was required and to pass from normal lines to information modeling of the building as real object. It had to give to project bureau the chance to use the modern solution and to increase the competitiveness. As the partner the Softline company was selected.

Project Progress

Specialists of Softline analyzed requirements and tasks of the customer and suggested to use the product Autodesk Building Design Suite Premium 2014. The packet includes both AutoCAD 2014, usual for the customer, and a new product – Revit 2014 based on BIM technology. It allowed project bureau to perform transition to a new solution gradually.

The technology of information modeling of the building of BIM (Building Information Modeling) means collecting and complex information processing about the building (technology, design, economic, etc.). As a result a construction object and everything, relation having to it, is perceived as a unit. Respectively, change of one of parameters leads to change of other related objects, including - visualization, drawings and specifications. Besides, the technology allows to use more effectively software packages of Autodesk, to create and adapt templates for work optimization and also to issue ready drawing documentation using 3D design.

Unlike the AutoCAD system installed earlier at the customer the new technology provides a possibility of sharing of information on a construction object at all stages of its lifecycle. Thanks to it it is possible to avoid loss of important data and errors in design process.

Work in project bureau was carried out in two stages. On the first specialists of Softline provided training of architects of the company in work with the new software. At the second stage they could implement a pilot project, having applied the gained knowledge and practical skills. After the customer's employees on a specific example estimated advantages of work with Autodesk Revit, the management made the decision on need of transition of all company to new technology.
