URFA lays optics to the new hostel

On July 14, 2014 the Rostelecom company announced connection of the new hostel of Ural Federal University to the high-speed optical Internet, Wi-Fi and interactive television.

Project Tasks

The ten-storied hostel on intersection of streets of Malyshev and Komsomol in Yekaterinburg, is calculated per thousand the person and became the first new building in housing stock of Ural Federal University.

Project Progress

Creating telecommunication infrastructure, Rostelecom constructed a fiber line of connection with use of the innovative technology of GPON (Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Networks) - it will provide high access rate in the Internet - more than 50 Mbps by the tariff plan selected by the customer and will give the chance to work with "heavy" content.

Project Results

Alexey Fayustov, the director of the media center URFA, noted: "New hostel of Ural Federal University long-awaited. The student's body of USU and UPI was not updated more than 20 years. The new hostel is provided to all necessary: comfortable spacious rooms, gym, cafe. Telecommunication infrastructure was entrusted the company having experience of technology support of large projects, including federal importance. I hope, the created conditions will promote study and creativity of our students".
