"E.ON Russia" prepared the strategy of an exit in "clouds"

On July 15, 2014 Softline announced project completion of development of the concept of use of cloud computing for E.ON Russia.

Project Tasks

Technologies of virtualization were applied to a number of information systems of the company. The management of E.ON Russia made the decision on need the evaluating economic effect and other advantages connected with use of the specified technologies. It is necessary for development of the concept of use of virtualization, cloud services and thin clients, for cost optimization and achievement of necessary business benefits.

As the partner of the project the Softline company is selected.

Main objectives of the project - development of possible options of use of technologies of virtualization, cloud services and thin clients in E.ON Russia and also a preliminary estimate of advantages and economic effect of use of each of the offered cloud models. Formation optimal for the power company of the concept of use of cloud computing should become result of works.

Project Results

The technique used when carrying out inspection of infrastructure of the customer is based on long-term experience of experts of Softline and meets the requirements and the recommendations of the Russian and international standards about audit of management processes in terms of information security.

During the project specialists of Softline analyzed documentation, work of the information systems "E.ON Russia" and IT infrastructure in general, held a number of negotiations with top management of the customer. All this helped to reveal set of requirements to use cloud computing to which the company was going to pass.

On the basis of the received data the report containing the description of the used information systems, the conclusion about a possibility of their use in virtual environment and (or) transfer in public "cloud" for receiving business benefits and the expressed economic effect of use of technologies of virtualization, cloud services and thin clients is prepared.

It is expected that implementation of the project by E.ON Russia company using the concept of use of cloud computing offered by experts of Softline will allow to reach improvements in case:

• increases in efficiency of management and speed of decision making online;
• increases in cost efficiency of operation of IT infrastructure (taking into account its scaling) for 30%;
• increases in efficiency of use of resources in general for 40%.

"Developing the concept of use of use of cloud services, virtualizations and thin clients for E.ON Russia, we faced an interesting challenge: comparison of different architecture, but also reasonable confirmation of cost efficiency of transition to new technologies was required not just, – Nikolay Agrinsky, the head of department of IT strategy of Softline company noted. - Within the project we developed a business case which allowed to estimate the cost of ownership and coefficient of return of investments at implementation of new technologies. Such approach allowed to offer the customer not only technology the innovation, but also economically optimal solution".
