Description

Razumnik Company LLC operates on the market since 1993. Today it is one of the main official dealers of Prosveshcheniye publishing house and more than 30 other publishing houses specializing in wholesale trade by literature for the high and higher school and also for preschool education. Within 15 years of active business in sixty largest cities of the country at Razumnik the brand, own, checked by time, extensive network of regional partners, the ideology of sales and, as a result, close contact with the buyer was created.

Shipment by shipment at own expense, work with online stores, delivery "from an entrance to an entrance" within Moscow and also a container to any region of the Russian Federation.

Tasks

In 2012 the warehouse of the company consisted of 5 premises with a total area of 5,500 sq.m.

The huge, constantly changing range of goods in combination with irregularity of its receipt and an expense impose the specifics on a tovaroobrabotka: complexity of distribution of storage locations under goods and the serious shortage of the place during the peak periods.

The company needed effective methods of storage and processing of goods.

The impossibility to estimate performance of work of each employee was constrained separately by implementation of a piece wage. A large number of time of the most skilled staff was spent on transaction of output control of the selected orders

In the conditions of substantial increase of percent of retail shipment of goods (online stores), it became clear that the existing warehouse management system cannot cope with the current tasks.

Solution

Preference was given to the warehouse management system IsWMS, mainly, because of a possibility of its adaptation to difficult and unique processes of Razumnik.

Logistic audit

At the first stage, the InStock Technologies company carried out the analysis of business processes of a warehouse, one of results of which was a making decision on topology change of a warehouse and all scheme of a tovaroobrabotka. In premises of a warehouse zones under floor stacking storage of large and average volumes one name are selected, pallet mono - and the mixed storage and also the two-storeyed shelf mezzanine for storage of the huge piece range is built.

Acceptance and optimization of storage

One of innovations is the scheme of dynamic rearrangement of goods in which the article which number decreases, moves from the storage areas to a zone with other topology, more effective for its selection, at the same time, releasing "precious" stuffed cells for the new articles arriving in large volumes. Transactions of reservation of storage location under arrival, acceptance and placements, and also "anticipatory" movements were optimized under the dynamic scheme of storage.

Selection

Transactions of selection were adapted for each zone separately so that they were executed most efficiently. For example, in the mezzanine selection is executed on carts at the same time of several orders by one selector.

Motivational schemes and piece-work pay

For the purpose of implementation of motivational schemes and a piece-work pay, the module IsProductivity is implemented. The module allows to calculate the relative performance of work of each employee, taking into account a type and complexity of transaction. Not important, what transactions were executed by the employee: all transactions are considered and add performance points to its work. Not only speed of work, but also mistakes made by the employee including those from them which will become known only after time is considered: after obtaining acts of discrepancies from clients.

After start of a system, the InStock Technologies company executed additional process optimization which result was an improvement of technology of selection/shipment and self-checking of selectors, adding of new screens of terminals, for the purpose of reduction of the errors caused by a human factor.

Results

As a result of application of the above described measures for optimization of storage of goods, it was succeeded to reduce one warehouse of 1,500 sq.m and to lease it.

Significantly personnel performance as a result of optimization and acceleration of their work and application of motivational schemes on the basis of data of IsProductivity increased. Thus, it was succeeded to avoid almost completely resource-intensive transactions of control and to reduce personnel on average by 30%.
