On August 20, 2014 the Softline company announced project completion on upgrade of a system of communications of the Northern (Arctic) federal university of M.V. Lomonosov implementation in four branches of the Microsoft Lync Server 2013 university.
Project Tasks
For reliability augmentation, high-speed performance, efficiency, availability of communications to employees it was required to implement a single platform of Microsoft Lync Server 2013 in all academic buildings and to create the modern IP telephony system on its platform.
The university was going to transform the system of facsimile document flow, replacing outdated analog devices with the modern centralized service of sending and acceptance of fax messages. In the announced competition on upgrade of a system of telephone communication of SAFU branches the victory was won by Softline company.
Project Progress
Having completed inspection of a system of telephony of SAFU, specialists of department of solutions of Microsoft of Softline company created the project of architecture of the new platform of communications and unrolled Lync Server 2013, having paid attention to availability of future solution.
During creation of a system of telephony of the university AudioCodes the audio-gateways Mediant 1000 and AudioCodes E-SBC that allowed to organize telephone communication, as by means of a data transmission digital stream, so using virtual channels of other provider, for example sip-trunk are used. Thanks to it the university will be able to stay in touch even if one of suppliers cannot temporarily provide services of telephony - a system automatically uses other channel.
Then engineers of Softline carried out integration of Lync with automatic telephone exchange, having integrated all systems of communications in one platform, configured external and mobile access.
The solution is scaled on all educational platforms SAFU.
Evgeny Chentsov, the manager of projects of department of solutions of Microsoft of Softline company, noted: "At the moment about 3 thousand employees of the university are connected to the solution, but at the same time a system supports up to 20 thousand users in the central body and up to 5 thousand in branches. It is easily scaled, and the customer will be able to transform without additional costs it, for example, to the platform for training of students. The uniform services of corporate communication constructed according to the royal requirements of fault tolerance provide to users of SAFU the qualitative and reliable level of communications".
"Implementation of modern technologies – important aspect of development of the university. Lync 2013 in this plan completely meets our requirements to the platform of the joint communications. We expect that in addition to efficiency of expenditure of time of employees, the implemented solution will reduce expenses on support of separate communications systems of the university and will make IT infrastructure more managed", - Artem Glekel, the head of department of ICT of SAFU told.
