On August 26, 2014 the Softline company announced project completion on implementation of Microsoft System Center Operations Manager in city administration of Murmansk.
Project Tasks
In city administration of Murmansk the department of information and technical support and data protection, in 2009 is formed. One of activities of department - carrying out uniform technology policy on implementation and development of modern information technologies for providing a management activity of administration.
For ensuring smooth operation of department to the customer the solution allowing IT specialists to carry out pro-active monitoring of a system was required. The similar technologies conforming to general requirements to performance, transparency and efficiency of a system in the organization were not used earlier.
As the partner of the project selected Softline company.
Project Progress
Experts of the contractor offered the most advantageous conditions of cooperation. Having conducted preproject examination of a system, specialists of department of solutions of Microsoft of Softline company proposed the solution on the Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2012 R2 platform. It is capable to provide complex monitoring of the most important infrastructure nodes.
Specialists of Softline were faced by a task to provide transfer of IT infrastructure of the customer from outdated products on the latests version. The working group performs works:
- developed system configuration;
- planning of parameters of counters for IT systems;
- system deployment of SCOM;
- installation and setup of packets of monitoring of IT systems;
- testing of systems, demonstration of results of work to the customer.
All complex of works - from development before demonstration, is implemented in a month.
Project Results
As a result of implementation of Microsoft System Center Operations Manager in administration of Murmansk management process and monitoring of IT services, applications and servers is adjusted, information on functioning of components of IT infrastructure is consolidated. The general concept of monitoring of capacities of the customer includes serviceability check of the workflow system Lotus Notes that allowed to obtain up-to-date information about work of business and critical applications.
"Use of SCOM became an optimal solution of tasks regarding the organization of a management activity of administration and pro-active monitoring of IT services. Upgrading process of monitoring of computing powers using SCOM, we expect to increase efficiency of IT service in general".
