The Collective Use Center (CCP) of RFNC-VNIIEF is equipped with multiprocessor computing systems of various classes to provide computing services to Rosatom enterprises, as well as high-tech industries, science and education. The center implements the technology of remote access to computing resources for performing knowledge-intensive calculations.

Compute Center Resources

  • The basis of the CCP RFNC-VNIIEF is computer systems, the total capacity of which as of 2014 is 350 TFlops. The volume of computing resources of the center has increased over time: for example, in 2012 it amounted to 320 TFlops, and in 2010 - only 20 TFlops. The systems are designed to perform calculations and comprehensive full-scale simulation of complex engineering systems.

  • Visualization system - software and hardware tools for graphic processing and analysis of large volumes of data obtained as a result of calculations.

  • Archive system - software and hardware for long-term storage of file data and backup of information.

  • System software consisting of Linux operating systems, communication and other software, the development of RFNC-VNIIEF, which provides a full-featured environment of parallel high-performance computing.

  • Together with computing resources, customers can use an import-substituting complex of mathematical programs designed for simulation modeling of technical products, developed by specialists of RFNC-VNIIEF. It includes software packages for 3D simulation modeling "Logos," "Danko + Cheetah," "Nymph," TDMCC. This software, according to developers, can serve as a full replacement for foreign development packages such as STAR-CD (CSM +), ANSYS, ANSYS CFX, LS-DYNA, ABAQUS, MOD FLOW, FLUENT, ECLIPSE and others.

The Logos engineering analysis package, in particular, is designed to simulate heat and mass transfer processes (aerodynamics, gas dynamics, hydrodynamics, thermal conductivity), strength (static and dynamic deformation, contact interaction and destruction). The "Danko + Cheetah" package is designed to simulate the stress-strain state of elements of complex spatial structures taking into account the nonlinear behavior of the material and contact interaction under intense mechanical and thermal loads.

The Nymph program package allows you to model processes characteristic of hydrogeoecology and oil and gas production, and the TDMCC package - neutron and gamma quantum transfer processes in three-dimensional systems using the Monte Carlo method. The main scope of the complex is the TDMCC design and theoretical research in the field of development and justification of the safety of nuclear power plants.

An example of modeling using the computational resources of RFNC-VNIIEF: determining the optimal profile of the Su-35 combat aircraft in order to reduce aerodynamic losses (Sukhoi Company).

Services

The RFNC-VNIIEF Computing Center allows you to perform a complete cycle of the modeling process - from the stage of creating a model, performing calculations to the stage of visualizing the data received - directly from the workplaces of employees of organizations in remote mode.

The center performs both exclusive provision of a part of computing resources for calculation (the ordered computing resource is reserved for a certain time) and on a general basis (the resource is allocated from the common computing field).

CCP services are provided to enterprises and organizations on a contractual basis. The cost of the service is not openly indicated, however, for example, in the contract for the provision of computing resources for 2013 with one of the customers - OKBM Afrikantov - the amount of about 15 thousand rubles. per month for monopoly use of the resource with a total capacity of 1 TFlops.

Organization Connection Plan for CCP Computing Resources

According to representatives of the RFNC-VNIIEF, as of mid-2014, 50 organizations were connected to the computing resources of the center. At the end of 2011, about 35 organizations were connected to the service.

Of the users of remote rental of computing resources, OKBM Afrikantov, SPbAEP, OKB GIDROPRESS, OKB Sukhoi, TsNII Petrel, TSIAM named after P.I. Baranova are known.
