On August 28, 2014 it became known of the project of equipment of 150 libraries of St. Petersburg the RFID system integrated to an accounting system, issue and search. Integrator RST-Invent company.

Project Results

Within the state program of upgrade of public libraries of St. Petersburg, RST-Invent performed works on process automation of accounting, issue and search of editions in the St. Petersburg public libraries. From 2011 to 2014 the RST-Invent company equipped more than 150 libraries in the Northern Capital of Russia with a RFID system.

Implementation of this technology helped to solve several problems:

  • reduce holding time of readers;
  • increase labor productivity by means of automation standard transactions;
  • ensure safety of funds.

If earlier at receiving and delivery of books the library worker had to fill out manually each form or to scan a barcode, then with RFID it is enough to put books on the desktop reader, data on them will be highlighted on the screen and will register in the electronic form of the reader.

Possibilities of a RFID system are not limited to it. In particular, in the central department of TsBS of Primorsky district the self service station is set. To independently register on itself books, it is possible to prolong, return, learn about debts, having just brought the library card and literature to the reader. At the end of the session with the station the reader receives the check with information on the made transactions.

Anti-theft function is provided with portal readers. At issue of books from a tag ban on carrying out is withdrawn. In case of unauthorized carrying out light-sound signaling is activated.
