The St. Petersburg Committee for Culture is the structural division of the Government of Saint Petersburg created for implementation of state policy and public administration in the field of culture and art.
Main activities:
- preserving and rational use of cultural and historical heritage, revival and development of cultural traditions;
- support of the organizations of culture and art for the purpose of ensuring equal access to cultural values for all social groups; creation of conditions for improvement of work of the organizations of culture and art;
- assistance to development of a system of vocational music and art education, to creative education and disclosure of talents of young generation of citizens;
- support of folk art and national cultures; development of the sphere of leisure, research and cultural and educational activity, strengthening of interaction of professional and amateur creativity;
- expansion of the international cooperation, involvement of the St. Petersburg organizations of culture and art in the international projects, promotion of image of St. Petersburg, as center of culture and art of world value;
- organization of city cultural projects: festivals, tenders, holidays, exhibitions, conferences and symposiums;
- development and projects implementation and target programs of cultural development; examination of the international and regional projects in the field of culture.
