Content

Choosing a Solution

The project in design bureau of the business direction "GRINTEKH: Constructions and the systems of greenhouses" started in 2012. The company needed to reduce as much as possible terms of development of the project documentation and to provide transfer of the exact design specification in the ERP system of the enterprise for further use in management of production processes. Besides, there was a need for minimization of quantity of the errors arising at a project stage and ensuring the centralized storage of the saved-up these structural elements of greenhouses.

Goals and Objectives

As the project documentation was made out in AutoCAD, and structural elements of greenhouses were developed in Inventor, within the project there was a task of consolidation of data 2D AutoCAD and 3D Inventor. For the solution of this task the packet of Autodesk Factory Design Suite which uses uniform library for both software products used at the enterprise was selected. The Autodesk Factory Design Suite library was developed by PSS company on the basis of drawings of the structural elements provided by specialists of the PKB GRINTEKH. Thanks to a possibility of synchronization of data of AutoCAD and Inventor in a packet of Autodesk Factory Design Suite, it was succeeded to achieve fast receiving three-dimensional model which can be used for the analysis, generation of drawings of facades and an output of the list of elements.

Project Progress

During the project it was succeeded to achieve that each graphic element irrespective of using what software tool it was created, became an information object. All information on each such object is stored in the database and used for the automated formation of exact design specifications. Thus, all structural elements exist in the form of a 3D model now, have physical characteristics, structure and the drawing which it is possible to address quickly at any time. Design data of products are stored in Autodesk Vault, and can be used for production of structural elements of greenhouses.

Result

At the moment all staff of the PKB can use the uniform structured library of structural elements for AutoCAD and for Inventor. The scheme of facades and cuts is generated from the general 3D model, at the same time all structural elements in accuracy correspond to a real product, including all fixing openings. Besides, new tools allow in the 3D mode - a preview to analyze applicability of any element.

"The project began with development of the standard on execution of project and design documentation on the basis of which further and data were integrated, - Alexander Kudryavtsev, the project manager from PSS company tells. – Such approach was caused by the fact that it was necessary to provide execution of the project documentation according to requirements of SPDS, and design – according to requirements of ESKD. Besides, it was necessary to consider also that employees used for work different software products - AutoCAD and Inventor. At the time of start of the project specialists of the company had no opportunity to use the acquired design information in the project documentation. And during creation of the project documentation it was necessary to represent conditionally a structural element and "hold in the head", it approaches a specific location or not. All this also led the management to the decision on creation of a uniform information model which could use both the designer, and designers".
"Result of this unique project was creation at the enterprise of a uniform information model which allows to obtain quickly the complete information about a product and to create the exact specification taking into account each element, - Alexander Kudryavtsev comments. – And thanks to library of structural elements and the related database it was succeeded not only to reduce considerably terms of creation of project drawings, but also to save designers from long and labor-intensive process of calculation of specifications and its entering into the ERP system of the enterprise".
"After implementation of an information model time of calculation and registration of elements of the specification decreased, there was an opportunity to see in a 3D model a binding of parts of the greenhouse relatively each other and at this stage to eliminate inaccuracies of construction, - Eduard Gavrikov, the design engineer of Agrisovgaz LLC tells. – Besides, the created library of components of greenhouses allows to accelerate creation of projects significantly. For us as designers plus automatic calculation of a hardware became also very important. As a result time for creation of the standard greenhouse was considerably reduced: as the majority of elements is present at base, the project of the standard greenhouse can be made in 2-3 days whereas earlier this process would drag on for 1.5-2 weeks. By our estimates, further, when the base of elements is replenished with construct for greenhouses with any step and any height, runtime of projects will be even less".
