Softline implemented Lync 2013 in IDGC of Volga

Goals and Objectives

The IT service IDGC of Volga was faced by a task to provide effective communications between the staff of executive office and workers of territorial distribution networks. Besides, now the customer implements the large-scale project on ERP system implementation in the course of what a large number of the working groups consisting of internal and external specialists who need to provide the convenient and transparent system of communications forms.

Choosing a Solution

In 2012 Softline completed a pilot project on implementation of Microsoft Lync Server 2010 at the central office IDGC of Volga in Saratov for a test user group from IT department. After efficiency evaluation and convenience of using of a system of the joint communications, the decision on carrying out within the agreement of Enterprise Agreement of works on its scaling on all management and the Samara branch was made. Long cooperation in delivery of software, the highest statuses of the Microsoft partner and successfully complete pilot implementation convinced the customer to entrust this responsible project of Softline company.

Project Progress

During the project specialists of department of solutions of Microsoft of Softline company designed architecture and unrolled the Lync 2013 platform at the central office of the customer in Saratov then transferred to it users of the old version. A system is constructed based on the high-available solution SQL Server and represents three servers assembled in a uniform pool. Besides, for additional fault tolerance the Lync server on the platform in Samara was configured.

Result

For the organization of external access to a system the additional Lync server with a role of Edge to which names and the IP addresses of users were switched was deployed. Now the staff of IDGC of Volga can use instant messages and carry out audio-video conferences with the colleagues working out of office. In addition on the platform in Saratov solution integration with automatic telephone exchange is carried out that allows to participate in meetings of Lync using normal phones. As a result of works the customer received the modern and reliable platform for the unified communication of more than 3 thousand workers.

Sergey Zharov, the project manager of department of solutions of Microsoft of Softline company, noted: "The indicator of the successful project is active use of functionality of the implemented solution by the customer and the subsequent desire to develop it. The staff of the company easily passed to Lync at internal negotiations. In the closest plans of IDGC of Volga - to connect to the Lync platform distribution offices in other regions and also to carry out integration of the created solution with the system of a video conferencing of Polycom for the organization of meetings with other enterprises of Rosseti Group".
