Choosing a Solution

Since 2009 the department of software packages of firm began to work with the built-in Microsoft Windows Embedded operating systems.

The Windows Embedded Standard 2009 operating system became a program basis of panels of the operator. Panels are a part of products of SAU GRS (automatic control systems of gas distribution stations) and controllers of telemechanics USIU-21.

The main application of a panel is the software "Zond2006". Software of "Zond2006" in real time collects and displays information on the course of technology process and also a historical retrospective of the course of process in the form of minutes of events and diagrams of change of parameter values.

"The Windows Embedded operating system considerably increased information security of all management system, - the head of department of the software packages Ltd company "Gazpriboravtomatika" Boris Egorov says, - Thanks to a possibility of the choice of components and special functions of the built-in OS it was succeeded to protect reliably a system, scenarios of loading and the application from possible changes and penetration of viruses".

Data exchange with technology controllers is conducted through Ethernet ports and RS-232/485 ports for communications protocols. In software of "Zond2006" the family of the standard Modbus RTU, Modbus ASCII and Modbus/TCP protocols is implemented. The panel of the operator can act both a master device (master), and slave (slave).

A large number of non-standard protocols allowing to obtain information from metering devices of amount of natural gas, devices of quality control of natural gas, counters of the electric power, devices of protection against corrosion of underground services and constructions, etc. is implemented.

Main features:

  • 100% compatibility with heterogeneous infrastructure on Windows;
  • interaction on NFS with other OS and hypervisors;
  • the unified storage: CIFS/SMB 3.0, NFS v3, iSCSI, HTTP and FTP;
  • SMB Direct: direct memory access for performance improvement;
  • balancing and consolidation of network ports: for the record performance and fault tolerance in virtual and physical mediums;
  • intuitive management of DWH from the single console;
  • updates of a system without interruption in service.

Result

SAU GRS "Spark" the Vladimir Region, Pereslavsky health facilities Gazprom Transgaz Ukhta LLC became the first implementation of a panel of the operator. For last 2 years more than 250 panels are released.

Thanks to compactness of OS for work 512 Mb of RAM and the processor with a frequency of 1.2 GHz and passive cooling there are enough.

OS and the application software Probe is established on Industrial CompactFlash of 2 Gb. On the carrier two sections are created. On the first the Windows Embedded Standard operating system and the application software (AS) 'Zond2006' is installed. This section is write-protected by means of Enhanced Write Filter (EWF) technologies. The second section is used for storage of the PPO configuration and historical data.
