On October 22, 2014 the Extreme Networks company announced expansion of the solution portfolio of the access level [1] constructed on the basis of the Software Defined Architecture platform, inclusion in a solution portfolio of the fixed Summit X460-G2 switch.
Summit X460-G2 is a series of the routing switches of a core of multiservice network with an exclusive density of ports 1GE in form factor 1RU and the switching which is not blocked by a matrix. In one Summit X460-G2 switch it is possible to use up to 54 ports and up to 416 ports in a stack, integrating switches using 40 Gbps (SummitStack, SummitStack-V) or 160 Gbps (SummitStack-V160) at distance to 10 km.
The Extreme Networks Summit X460-G2 switches support technology of stacking for Ethernet using the module SummitStack-V with ports 10GE and standard optical lines for consolidation of several switches in the virtual chassis. SummitStack-V integrates switches in the uniform chassis at distances to 40 km. For consolidation of the Extreme Networks Summit X460 switches in a stack at long distances ports 10 Gigabit Ethernet with standard SFP+ interfaces are used.
The high density of ports and simplicity of the Summit X460 switch allow to unroll corporate network of an operator class, or network of a data processing center in the shortest possible time. Simplicity of management and high reliability of network, are reached thanks to industrial processors and the building ExtremeXOS operating system uniform for all switches of Extreme Networks company.
