In October, 2014 "Omsk Research Institute of Instrument Making" (ORIIM) and "The Omsk manufacturing enterprise "Irtysh" (enter into Ruselectronics holding) was announced development of new generation of the Uragan-N communication system for navy.
System development was conducted as ROC within accomplishment of the Federal target program of military shipbuilding up to 2050, approved at the request of the president Vladimir Putin and accepted at the end of November of the current year. The act of the state testing of a prototype of the new communication system was signed by heads of the VTR of Russia on September 5, 2014.
A system is held for use in the military surface ships of different types. As developers say, it is capable to overcome means of radio-electronic fight of possible opponents: the complex will work even at the included systems of stubs and in interference-immune communication channels. The state tests of "Uragan-N" were carried out on the anti-submarine corvette. In production of the new communication system it is going to involve the plant of Kozitsky which is included into Ruselectronics holding too.
The new communication system uses Software Defined Radio (SDR) technology. In reporting documents ONIIP it is specified that it is one of the technologies determining the innovation content of the current works of institute on creation of the perspective technology of communication of the VI generation.
At the end of 2013 information on preliminary arrangements of ONIIP with the Russian Defense Ministry about intention to conclude the government contract on delivery of "Uragan-N" appeared in media. Delivery scopes and contract amount did not reveal.
ONIIP is the main developer of radio engineering complexes and the special radio equipment for needs of the VTR of Russia, the Ministry of Internal Affairs,FSB,the FSO,the Ministry of Emergency Situations,FCS and Ministry of Defence.
"ONIIP traditionally develops communication systems for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. They create school of the personnel, have extensive experience of work in this direction", – note in Ruselectronics.
