Content

On December 2, 2014 the company Softline completed the project of creation of the platform of the joint communications based on Microsoft Exchange Server and Lync Server for Kazan Helicopter Plant.

Choosing a Solution

Progressive tense as means of communication between users of KVZ the MDaemon mail server and a chat of Jabber to which there was a number of complaints were used: versions of products became outdated long ago, and their limited functionality did not correspond to the status of corporate systems. The guide of the customer made the decision to construct a new modern communication framework for employees.

As KVZ is the enterprise of defense appointment - all questions connected with information security are priority for the organization. Therefore to the level of security of a new system high requirements were imposed. As at the customer solutions of Microsoft were already implemented, for updating of a system of communications IT specialists of KVZ suggested the management to consider the possibility of transition to the products Exchange and Lync.

Project Progress

Specialists of Microsoft showed KVZ of advantage of the platform of the joint communications based on the products Exchange Server and Lync Server. Most interested the customer of a possibility of scheduling and the organization of audio-and video conferences. Having convinced the high level of information security of the proposed solution, KVZ announced competition on system implementation. The victory in it was won by the Softline company having the highest partner statuses of Microsoft and also deep examination in data domain.

Specialists of department of solutions of Microsoft of Softline company approached project implementation from the point of view of users, and first of all developed for them instructions and the training videos which would allow to study the interface and opportunities of Exchange and Lync. After system deployment in KVZ engineers of Softline started it in the test mode for one month. During this time employees used both the old, and new mail systems at the same time. When all users got used to work with the new platform, final transition was performed.

As a result of implementation of the mail solution based on Exchange the staff of KVZ had new tools for effective work: calendars, global address directory, notes, planning of meetings, mobile access. At the same time all information is stored not locally now, and on the server therefore in case of failure in operation of the PC data will not be lost.

On the next stage of the project specialists of Softline constructed the system of the joint communications based on Microsoft Lync Server technology, having integrated it with the created mail solution Exchange. It allows to browse data on presence, to save the history of correspondence and also files transferred through Lync, directly in Outlook. According to the customer, after Lync deployment the most part of users in internal interaction completely refused traditional telephony for benefit of headsets. The staff of KVZ appreciated convenience of communication by means of a chat, video and voice messages.

Result

As a result new tools became available to employees of the customer to effective work: calendars, global address directory, planning of meetings, mobile access. Besides, they appreciated convenience of communication by means of a chat, video and voice messages.

Vitaly Popov, the head of group of infrastructure decisions of department of solutions of Microsoft of Softline company, so characterized project deliverables: "The enormous response of users was caused by possibilities of scheduling, wide functionality of Lync and also automatic history logging of correspondence. Earlier the staff of KVZ on any question had to meet internally, it took away valuable working time and, besides, was inconvenient at a large number of participants. Now workers actively use audio-and video conferences in Lync that allows not only quicker and more successfully to solve problems, but also to plan and use the working time more effectively".
Andrey Lysov, the head of department of information technologies JSC Kazan Helicopter Plant, shared the impressions about the project: "The created system of the joint communications based on Microsoft Exchange Server also Lync Server provided employees KVZ uniform, convenient in use, with a communication framework. With confidence it is possible to tell that such tools as calendars, planning of meetings, mobile access will allow to lift efficiency and interactions of personnel to qualitatively new level".
