The Economic Newspaper publishing house was formed in 1991 by editorial collective of the Ekonomika I Zhizn weekly. Today ID Economic Newspaper is a largest diversified holding, one of recognized leaders in the market of the Russian media and marketing researches.

Specifics of work of any journalistic organization such is that functions of the most part of her employees can quite be performed also out of office. For this purpose it is necessary to give them full-fledged opportunities of remote work. At the end of 2011 top management of the company made the decision on upgrade of IT infrastructure of all holding. In Economy and Life newspaper editorial office, the first object of upgrade, systems ensuring business process automation and joint work with documents already functioned, but it was necessary to transfer all functionality to virtual environment. At a design stage specialists of DEPO proposed the complete solution for remote jobs and internal communications which as much as possible met business needs of publishing house.

Before implementation of virtualization of desktops the IT service of the customer carried out standardization and unification of business processes of edition. The publishing ATEX Prestige system and also the system of joint work over the documents Zimbra Collaboration Suite in which space all materials of the edition, at all stages of work over them of journalists, editors, proofreaders and other employees address was implemented.

Hardware optimization and implementation of means of virtualization became the next step of upgrade. Previously it was necessary to make sure that the Prestige system is capable to work effectively in the conditions of virtual environment and to develop scenarios of interaction of all components of IT infrastructure. It managed to be made thanks to the concept of risk-free design of DEPO Computers. It allows to propose to the customer that solution and functionality which are necessary for him. And gives the chance to make the final decision on the choice only when the client is convinced that everything works correctly.

Upgrade of IT infrastructure is implemented in three directions: virtualization of workstations, consolidation of graphic stations and corporate IP telephony.

For virtualization of workstations of staff of Economic Newspaper Publishing house the boxed solution DEPO VDI Small Business Suite which is specially developed by DEPO Computers together with Citrix Systems for the companies of medium and small business was used.

The hardware of the solution is provided by the high-end server of DEPO Storm 3300V2 designed for work with the most exacting to resources and applications, critical for business: DBMS, applications for support Internet and the intranet infrastructure, applications of electronic business. The server 2U high differs in high reliability due to duplication and redundancy of all important components and is intended for installation in 19" to a rack.

Program part of the solution DEPO VDI Small Business Suite — Citrix VDI-in-a-Box. This simple and available VDI solution with ample opportunities of personalisation. VDI-in-a-Box allows users to configure completely the device under itself thanks to vDisk technology (virtual disk) which ensures complete data security of users and applications, at the same time IT specialists can easily manage systems using the uniform copy of a master image, saving time and means.

Consolidation of graphic stations was performed based on the DEPO Race BladeEN710 chassis with DEPO Race BladeG10 blade servers.

The chassis 7U high is intended for installation in standard 19" a rack and allows to set up to 10 dual-processor professional graphic blade-stations with support of hot swap. In a basic configuration of the chassis has 2 power supplies on 1.4 kW (with a possibility of installation to 4 blocks on 2 kW with reservation according to scheme N+1 and support of hot swap). Also the chassis is equipped with the module of management with the KVM and IPMI 2.0 functions.

Graphic DEPO Race BladeG10 blade servers are created based on the modern Intel platform with support to two Intel® Xeon® processors of series 5600 and up to 96 GB of RAM of DDRIII 1333/1066/800 ECC Registered. Are supported professional graphic 3D - adapters of the NVIDIA Quadro series.

The module for the organization of remote access through PCoIP for comfortable remote work in any applications, the client terminal for remote work on "edge" with 4 USB 2.0 and 2 ports video outputs of DVI-I is a part of each server; the integrated module IPMI 2.0 and a connectivity through KVM. Two gigabit network adapters allow to integrate "edges" in local a LAN.

The third direction of project implementation concerned implementation of the IP telephony for internal communications of employees. As a result any employee can communicate to the colleague on internal communication, regardless, where he is and from what PC he logged into the system. Besides, the budget was succeeded to reduce the companies by long-distance and international telephone negotiations significantly.

Many staff of publishing house notes noticeable pluses from implementation, in particular, they do not need to come to office without fail daily any more. A considerable part of appeals to a system already happens from mobile devices that accelerates business processes even more, but does not reduce the security level of corporate data.

The IT service of publishing house received easily scalable and flexible IT infrastructure in which it is simple to implement the new automation equipment further. Now all for an hour the new employee can prepare a workplace.

The management had an opportunity to lease the released working areas to other organizations, receiving an additional source of income. All this strengthened image of Economic Newspaper publishing house also as potential employer. The solution completely paid off in only 5 months after operation start the project and began to bring a real income. Such results allow to be engaged in further development of IT infrastructure without influence on the current business
