On December 11, 2014 the ABBYY company announced implementation of the joint crowdsourcing project with the State museum of L.N. Tolstoy on creation of the reference electronic version of 90-volume collected works of Leo Tolstoy.
Project Progress
Thousands of volunteers took part in the project: after a project startup organizers appealed to Internet community to help to subtract volumes, to correct errors which could arise at digitization. Tolstoy read the whole world: 3,249 people from 49 countries were registered on www.readingtolstoy.ru, loaded the special version of the program for ABBYY FineReader text recognition, checked volumes and communicated in groups of the project on social networks.
The project proceeded 18 months. Specialists of ABBYY in partnership with Wexler company created 761 e-books: for each volume and for separate works.
Project Results
All works by the writer in the formats PDF, ePub, .fb2, by .mobi and html are uploaded to the website www.tolstoy.ru. a 90-tomnik digitized within the project — the complete works of Leo Tolstoy. In addition to the famous novels, stories and stories, the meeting includes 13 volumes of diaries and notebooks, 31 volumes of letters, children's and youthful literary attempts of Tolstoy, the play and article on different subjects.
