The Committee on Education of Barnaul implements a management system for IT infrastructure based on solutions of Microsoft In Committee on Education of Barnaul the pilot project on implementation of the centralized control system of IT infrastructure based on the solution Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2012 is complete. The solution is implemented by the partner of Microsoft company in Altai Krai, the largest system integrator of the region – Galex Scientific and technological center.
IT infrastructure of committee is constructed based on solutions of Microsoft and includes more than 350 workstations and servers. Before implementation of a pilot project inventory of IT assets was performed using the unspecialized solution having small functionality and insufficient accuracy. Software installation was made by system administrators manually according to the request of users, at the same time cases of the software unauthorized installation by employees were fixed.
To the customer the solution allowing to automate and centralize inventory, installation and software updating and also to create and support standard settings of the software configurations according to certain roles of users was required.
The product Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2012 meets all these requirements. As the partner the Galex company – the owner of the highest partner status of Microsoft in the field of management of licenses – Gold Software Asset Management is attracted to project implementation.
Within a pilot project engineers of Galex company installed and configured the System Center Configurations Manager 2012 server for testing of opportunities of the solution. Specialists organize the system of inventory and the analysis of licensing of program assets. Determination of the current level of a maturity of processes of accounting of IT assets of committee (SAM – Software Asset Management), according to Model of Optimization of management of program assets (SOM – SAM Optimization Model) and the recommendations of the international standard ISO 19770 is carried out.
Test deployment allowed to estimate possibilities of the solution SCCM 2012 in practice and to designate ways of development of a management system for IT assets.
Inventory of the equipment and software, automation of deployment of applications, control, the reporting, – important and resource-intensive problems of any IT department. Implementation of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager will help Committee on Education of Barnaul to optimize daily activity of technical employees and to increase efficiency of their work and also will allow to increase return from investments in IT infrastructure and to reduce costs for its service.
