FIPS, federal state institution - Institute of an industrial property (Oracle VM Server for SPARC)

The I-Teco company announced in December, 2014 project completion on large-scale upgrade of computing resources, the executed for Federal Institute of Industrial Property, leading research institute of Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent).

"Due to significant growth of volume processed by Rospatent given by the management of the organization the decision on need of urgent updating of main systems for the purpose of increase in computing resources available to us was made, – Krivoborodov Vasily, the chief of computer center of the Federal Institute of Industrial Property (FIIP) notes. – The right to project implementation according to the results of tender was acquired by the Russian system integrator "I-Teco"".

During implementation the Fujitsu M10-4S server hardware is deployed, NetApp FAS6290 array is added to already existing storage system (SS). Also were completely upgraded SAN network using the Brocade 6510 switches and the system of regular power supply based on the APC Symmetra PX2 UPS with a power of 48 kW. Specialists set tape library Fujitsu SCi500, made installation and setup of a backup system based on Symantec Netbackup.

In addition, forces of I-Teco carry out migration on new resources of earlier used solutions:

• The information retrieval system of patent search 'PatSearch' v.7 and the solution "Analytical Courier" – own developments of I-Teco.
• Electronic document management systems according to the TM-ADMIN trademarks.
• Systems of electronic state registers of intellectual property items.
• An automated system of chamber on patent disputes.
• Automated information system of paperless electronic office-work of examination of inventions.

In a project deliverable it was succeeded to increase flexibility of a configuration of servers at the expense of opportunities of adding of OZU and the CCP without shutdown of the equipment. Thanks to use of Oracle VM for SPARC technology it became simpler to create, delete and modify computing resources. The number of network connections increased, the capacity of the CCP, RAM and access to DWH, data storage volume increased that guaranteed performance improvement and fault tolerances of services.
