Universarium (system)

Universarium is the Russian system of electronic online education created on the basis of technology of mass open online courses^[1].

At the heart of a system the technology platform created on open source software taking into account the analysis of educational standards of the projects Coursera, Udacity, eDX other.

Universarium offers the full-fledged free rates executed according to educational standards of e-learning which include video lectures (as Basic Element of introduction to a rate and representations of knowledge), independent tasks, homeworks, tests, group work and a final assessment. The project is implemented with assistance of RIA Science and the Agencies of strategic initiatives.

In a system free educational courses of teachers from the universities of the country (Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, the Russian economic university of Plekhanov, others) and also the Russian scientific centers are provided.

The main directions in which rates — chemistry, physics, mathematics, economy, programming, astronomy, biology are created and will be developed. Special attention is paid to interfaculty rates, and the rates which are "on a joint" disciplines. At the first stage of the project teaching is supposed in Russian, on the next stages development of the project abroad and the translation of rates into the main European languages is planned.

As of January 26, 2015 the status of a network resource is defined as "Public beta testing".

2015

Universarium is the first year of work

On January 26, 2015 the educational Universarium online platform reported anniversary since launch.

"Universarium" – the only free system of electronic education in Russia which integrated on the platform of motivated listeners and Russian teachers, created community of the involved students who are actively entering dialogs with teachers exchanging impressions with each other and making recommendations about improvement of educational process. Joint work helps with improvement of the platform.

On January 20, 2014 the Universarium project opened virtual doors for listeners. By the end of 2014 which quantity reached a third of one million people from Russia and 34 countries of the world. Average age of the student of 27 years.

15% of users use mobile application in learning process. For a year of work more than 1.2 thousand hours of lecture video records are created, more than 1.85 million class periods are in total spent by users of the platform for studying of educational programs.

Number of educational partners of Universarium for January 26, 2015 - 36 higher educational institutions. According to data of the first year of work of the platform, the most popular rates among users – economic orientation. Founders of the project predict growth of interest in technical disciplines, niche humanitarian programs in new academic year.

In the first decade 2015 it is necessary to start a number of rates of the general subject among which there are cookery rates ("We prepare in Russian"), to education of children ("Education of creativity in family"), cultural science and history of literature ("Smart things") and others.

Dmitry Guzhelya, the founder and the director of Universarium, noted: "The project only just begins to gain steam, but already now it is visible that it turns out interesting and the most important – demanded by absolutely different people. Therefore it is sure that we will overcome the planned digit in 1.5 million listeners by the end of 2015 without effort".
