"Lukoil Oversiz" completed implementation of MES technology

On January 29, 2015 the ITPS group (Parma Telecom) announced implementation of components of "the intellectual field" for Lukoil Oversiz company in Iraq.

Project Progress

The complex MES solution designed taking into account the best practices of the world oil industry became a basis of the automation system of production processes deployed on the field Western Kurna-2. For collecting, processing and storage of technology information the product PI System of OSI Soft company was selected from real time, accounting and distribution of hydrocarbons are performed by means of the Energy Components system of Tieto company, work of laboratory is supported by STARLIMS, and visualization of technology information is implemented on the basis of the portal of XHQ Smart Fields created by specialists of Siemens AG.

With system implementation of management of production processes technicians "Lukoil Oversiz", servicing the field Western Kurna-2, obtains necessary production data in real time, analyzes them using specialized tools for visualization, modeling, identification of trends and deviations.

The implemented MES solution is integrated with the SAP ERP systems working in the company with the module MRO (SAP PM) and the system of the integrated modeling (IAM — Integrated Asset Modelling). Data streams connect the MES solution with the ERP system and other corporate applications in which primary production data are used for accomplishment of economic calculations, drawing up plans, decision making, formation of the corporate reporting.

Implementation of a MES system and its integration with Distributed control system (DCS) happened to mining Western Kurna-2 that allowed to resolve timely necessary technical issues before transition to a stage of the trial operation (TO).

MES is a production process automation core, providing optimum control of all field and separate objects, development planning, selection of the equipment and quality control of products, brings together results of various calculations, helps to unify algorithms and to eliminate disagreements, is used as a source of the verified production data for the accounting and analytical systems.

Alexey Solomin is an IT analyst of Lukoil Oversiz company, noted: "MES is the main production system of the company. When implementing the project on Western Kurne-2 all features of business processes of Lukoil Oversiz company as operator of the field, the requirements to the reporting which were moving forward from head holding JSC "LUKOIL" and also provision of the normative and legal acts existing in the territory of Iraq were considered. The approach put in a basis of the implemented solution corresponds to ideology of "the intellectual (digital) field" — the most progressive the direction of development of the oil and gas industry today — and will promote the organization of joint work of specialists of different technical disciplines, to provide global, quick and secure access to information in the conditions of growth of amount of data in process of development of the field".
Rustam Kamalov, the Head of Department of industrial automation and telecommunications of ITPS Group (Parma Telecom), told: "Mining the Western Kurna – 2 is one of the most ambitious and difficult projects today in the oil and gas industry which imposes special requirements both to participants of process, and to the used technologies. Us implementation of the complete solution MES which became the first stage of implementation of the concept of "the intellectual field" on Western Kurne-2 is at the moment successfully complete. The ITPS group together with partners, world leaders in the field of engineering and automation, intends to continue implementation of advanced technologies on the field that will allow our client to increase production efficiency using best practices, to provide achievement of the stated indicators and to optimize development process of the field".
