2020: Aveva purchased OSIsoft

On August 25, 2020 it was officially announced sale of OSIsoft of Aveva company. Thanks to this transaction which cost is $5 billion the buyer will be able to strengthen positions in the market of industrial software.

Under the terms of the agreement, Aveva will pay the transaction by means of money, without attracting own actions. The united company will be characterized by annual revenues at the level of $1.6 billion and adjusted earnings of EBIT (before interest contribution and taxes) in $394 million.

Aveva redeems OSIsoft from the founder Patrick Kennedy (owned a 53% share), SoftBank Vision Fund (45%) and Mitsui & Co companies. (5%). Kennedy will receive 4% of the consolidated company and will become her Honorary Chairman of Board of Directors. Besides, its fund according to the results of the transaction will receive $600 million.

Aveva purchased OSIsoft for $5 billion

Schneider Electric which by the end of August, 2020 possesses about 60% of the issued ordinary shares of Aveva undertook to vote for approval of the transaction. Its closing should take place until the end of 2020 provided that regulators will have no questions.

It is supposed that due to merger of OSIsoft the Aveva company will be able to strengthen positions as the world leader in the field of the engineering and industrial software and also in the field of digital transformation and industrial Internet of Things. Clients in oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical, metallurgical, construction, power, pharmaceutical and IT sectors in 127 countries of the world use products and services of OSIsoft.

As reported in the press release, solution integration of OSIsoft PI System with the products Aveva will create a basis which will help to manage Big Data, clouds and the analytical AI systems to help clients to try to obtain big business results.^[1]

2011: Expansion of the products OSIsoft in EMEA region

The vice president of OSIsoft for sales in EMEA region Martin Otterson said in November, 2011 that in the world market of MES systems the company occupies a noticeable niche: automation of the enterprises of continuous production process in such industries as power, an oil and gas sector, oil and agrochemistry, coal mining, a telecom, etc. For example, 60% of the enterprises from the list of Fortune 1000 on these industries use PI System, but also, products with this brand apply 65% of the companies of the same industries from the Global 500 list. By this moment in the world over 15 thousand PI System in 110 countries are installed.

The Osisoft company was open for expansion of the products OSIsoft in Moscow. As the CEO Tyunyatkin Alexander told it: 'Before us a number of tasks is delivered, of which creation in the country of a partner network is key that, as expected, will allow to reach double sales increase'. Now three partner distributors of OSIsoft, and the main of them — the IndaSoft company advancing MES solutions based on the products OSIsoft in the Russian market within 11 years, mainly in the oil and gas industry in the Siberian region act in our country.

"Besides, we pay much attention to creation of the centers of support of the partners and customers who are engaged in implementation of our products — Martin Otterson told. — In EMEA region we build network of offices including in Moscow, for the purpose of market development of PI System, support of partners and assistance to it in pre-sale work, training, the organization of seminars, trainings in the territory of the enterprises, the choice of an architectural concept and carrying out its audit, a system design on the PI platform".
