Sberbank of the Russian Federation (Symantec Storage Foundation)

The OCS company won the mega-tender of Sberbank for delivery and a software maintenance of Symantec which on assurance of bank has no domestic alternative.

Sberbank summed up the results of an open competition on providing licenses softwares of Symantec and services in its maintenance. The procedure was performed in a quotation request format which starting maximum price was exposed at the level of $52.3742 million (about 3.67 billion rubles at the rate of for January 30, 2015).

Open kompyyuter solyushnz LLC (the legal person of the distributor of OCS, enters NCC) which reduced lot cost less than by 1% was recognized the winner. As the only competitor of OCS in tender the Verysell-Trading company acted.

As a result for licenses Sberbank will pay $31.15 million (about 2.18 billion rubles), and for support of software — $20.72 million (about 1.45 billion rubles).

Purchase is made for ensuring commercial operation of all high-critical systems of bank across all Russia.

Warranty period of operation of software makes 12 months, however aggregate term of action of licenses is not limited and "validity period of the exclusive right to the software product" extends to all.

Within maintenance of software the winner of competition will begin to service his working capacity in the online mode in Russian and to react quickly to incidents in the terms regulated by the policy of Symantec.

Commenting on the tender, Sberbank reported to CNews that in now they use antivirus software of three producers: Symantec, Kaspersky Labs and "Doctors Veb" that in total allows to support effective echelon protection.

The bank emphasizes that products of Symantec about which there is a speech in the tender are not only software for security maintenance, but also the program for ensuring availability (availibility). In the latter case, as declare in Sberbank, software of Symantec on the functionality has no analogs at the Russian vendors, namely programs of this category make 95% in a total amount of purchase.

"Availibility-products of Symantec provide expanded management of disk space of storage systems, high readiness and disaster recovery of these servers in physical and virtual environments" — say in bank.

In particular, software of Symantec Storage Foundation virtualizes the storage used by a basic system, expanding possibilities of flexible management and setup of disk space. The Veritas Cluster Server component guarantees protection of applications, providing local data availability, located on the remote websites of disaster recovery. Backup Exec represents the uniform integrated product intended for protection of virtual and physical mediums, simplification of backup procedures and expansion of opportunities of recovery. Thanks to support of Symantec V-Ray technology the product Backup Exec allows to recover the whole servers, important Microsoft applications and virtual environments of VMware or Microsoft Hyper-V, reducing a downtime.
