Russian Post will bring order to "zoo" of logistics systems

To the middle of 2016 Russian Post is going to develop a management system for transport and logistic flows (Transportation Management System). Follows from the project documentation published in February, 2015 that a system automates formation of routes and schedules of transportation of mail between objects of mail network, daily adjustment of schedules on transportation taking into account the actual volumes of mail, maintaining transportation agreements with the accredited partners.

Also it will provide placement of electronic shipping requests among the accredited carriers, the choice of carrier and setting of the specific vehicle on a route, control of accomplishment of transportation and event management on a route, reconciliation of documents for payment with the fact of the performed works and terms of the contract.

For rendering services of a public mail service Russian Post uses more than 2000 railway routes, about 300 trunk autoroutes and 470 aviaroutes. The number of mailings more than 3 billion a year.

Trial operation of a management system for transport and logistic flows is going to be carried out on the Moscow node of Russian Post.

At the time of start of the project, in Russian Post several thousands of copies of the different software for automation of production and logistic processes are used. Systems generate information on the accepted and processed mailings, tanks in which there are these departures, the accompanying documents providing documentary confirmation of the facts of logistic activity and the transactions made with them.

The used systems are going to be finished for interaction with the implemented management system for transport and logistic flows. Among systems with which it will be integrated –the data warehouse "GARDEN Logistics", the system of modeling and planning of processes of mail logistics,"1C: Motor Vehicle Management",GLONASS monitoring system.

Due to implementation of a new system Russian Post expects to increase use of net volume of vehicles and to provide the operational and transparent cost accounting on transportation and process of vendor interaction of transport services, including process of payments.

In the project documentation it is specified that as basic software for creation of a management system for transportations software Oracle Transportation Management products,IBM Sterling Transportation Management System,SAP Transportation Management,JDA TMS should be used.
