History

Establishment of the company 1967

The Usovsky Wine and Cognac Cellars enterprise was founded in 1967 on the basis of an old winery in the village of Ilyinsky (Moscow Region).

The first cognacs in the village of Usovo appeared thanks to Empress Maria Alexandrovna in the late 60s of the XIX century. These were the gifts of foreign ambassadors, or the empress herself bought them on trips to Europe. Imported cognacs and samples of cognac alcohols were aged in local wine-cognac cellars.

Gradually, the Romanov estate in Usovo became a popular tasting ground for rare drinks from tsarist cellars for the Russian nobility. After the revolution, the Usov cellars fell into decay and were not used for a long time.

On the basis of an old winery and unique cognac storage facilities in 1969, the Usovsky Wine and Cognac Cellars plant was built.

History

2022: Alvisa bought UNHCR to spill cognac under the Kinovsky brand

As it became known on January 13, 2022, the Alvisa group of companies, producing cognac under the Elder brand, agreed to acquire the Usovsky Wine and Cognac Cellars (UNHCR) alcoholic beverages plant in the Moscow Region. The financial and other terms of the transaction are not disclosed.

According to Kommersant, Alvisa bought UNHCR to spill cognac under the Kinovsky brand, bought from the Moscow KiN wine and cognac plant. Alvisa plans to spill more than 1 million Kinovsky decalitres annually at a plant in Moscow. The implementation of spill volumes will allow Kinovsky to enter the top three leaders in the cognac market in Russia.

The manufacturer of Elder cognac bought the Kinovsky brand

According to the publication, the owners of Alvis, UNHCR and the KiN plant began business as one group, but over time divided the assets. Alvisa plans to transfer the site only under the Kinovsky spill, bringing the volume of beverage production to more than 1 million dal to bring the brand into the top three of the Russian cognac market.

The owner of the brand agency Kaufman Stanislav Kaufman says that Kinovsky will become a good replenishment of the portfolio for Alvisa. But, he warns, fans of the brand may negatively perceive the change of site and the new owners of the brand will have to actively engage in product promotion.

In addition to the Elder cognac, Alvis produces Nucky Tompson and Glen Eagles whiskey, Montblanc vodka and Delasy vermouth by January 2022. The company owns the Stavropol Wine and Cognac Plant, the Mineralovodsk Grape Wine Plant and the production of alcohol and wine materials in Spain. In addition, Alvisa is building a new distillate plant in Dagestan. Sales for 2021 in kind amounted to 4 million decalitres.[1]

2003

The company produced alcoholic beverages on local raw materials - wines, vermouths, ports - survived the years of the "dry law," and then returned to the production of alcohol, including vodka. At the beginning of the 2000s, the plant reoriented itself to the production of cognac. Having established contacts with manufacturers of cognac alcohols in France, Spain and Armenia, the company began bottling other brands, and in 2003 introduced its own TM to the market - cognac Usovsky.

For almost half a century, the plant has turned from a small workshop into a leader in the alcohol market. The Russia company's brand portfolio includes two well-known brands: Usovsky cognac and Kalganoff natural tincture.
