The Ural department of RAS will replace the mail platform with Microsoft Exchange

On March 6, 2015 it became known of preparation of the project plan by Softline company on migration of a message exchange system of the Ural department of RAS on the Microsoft Exchange 2013 Softline platform^[1].

The customer received technical justification of the project with breakdown on stages and the description of functional features of the software solution.

The organization used mail services on the platforms Postfix, Mail.ru and others. As an additional tool of communications served the Microsoft Lync 2013 system. For increase in efficiency of interaction of employees, simplification of administration of infrastructure and cost reduction on its service, IT specialists OURO RAHN made the decision on consolidation of mailboxes under the domain of the organization on the basis of the solution Exchange Server 2013.

Exchange Server 2013 was going to be integrated with Lync that will allow employees to see presence statuses of users and information on their employment in a contact card; exchange instant messages via the web interface.

As the IT partner of the project selected Softline company. To Kompany and [[OURO RAHN connects cooperation on some other IT projects.

Specialists of the contractor suggested the customer to sign the agreement of Microsoft Enterprise Agreement under the terms of which it will have an opportunity to optimize expenses on the software and to develop IT infrastructure without additional investments. The customer made the decision on cooperation with vendor as the similar format of provision of services completely answered its requests on upgrade of a system of communications.

Within the consulting project experts of the contractor developed the step-by-step plan of implementation of a software platform of Exchange Server. In particular processes are described:

• installations and testings;
• switchings of a flow of external mail;
• creations of the uniform mail domain;
• integration with Lync.

Upon completion of the consulting project the complete packet of organizational and administrative documentation is provided to the customer.

Project Results
