Comparex implemented Microsoft Lync for the Government of the Magadan region

3/10/2015. The Comparex company announced system implementation of the joint communications based on Microsoft Lync Server 2013 in a working environment of the Government of the Magadan region. As a result of project implementation in the Government it was succeeded to optimize costs for communication services and for business trips of employees and also to increase efficiency of the process of communications.

Goals and Objectives

Prior to the beginning of the project process of internal communications of the Government of the Magadan region and communications with other authorities was constructed based on traditional telephony and also by means of use of services of SIP providers. From the point of view of IT, the organization of audio-and video conferences required considerable labor costs. Owing to lack of modern opportunities of communications, such as instant messages, statuses of presence, federation, carrying out online of the presentations, file sharing, virtual conference rooms, - the current process of the organization of communications was recognized outdated. Also in view of lack of an opportunity to hold meetings and the online conferences were required additional costs for payment of services of communication and expenses on business trips of employees.

For the management of the Government it was important not only to optimize costs for communication services and for business trips of employees, but also to increase efficiency of the process of communications. From the point of view of IT it was important to receive the platform of communications which would be simple and clear to users and allowed to organize audio-video conferences without involvement of staff of IT department. The need for integration with the existing IT infrastructure was not less important: the Active Directory directory service, the mail server based on Microsoft Exchange.

Choosing a Solution

Taking into account the formulated criteria of efficiency of communications and requirements to the platform as integrator of the solution the COMPAREX company having long-term experience implementation of communications systems and having the highest status Microsoft Gold Communications was selected. As platforms for a pilot project two Ministries were selected: Ministry of road economy, transport and communication of the Magadan region, and Ministry of state and legal development of the Magadan region. The solution on system implementation of the joint communications proposed by specialists of Comparex based on Microsoft Lync Server 2013 most fully corresponded to the development strategy and allowed to achieve effective objectives by the minimum costs.

Thanks to presence of high competences at a project team of Comparex, all stage of implementing solution was succeeded to pass less than in one month. In pilot projects about 100 PC users who used the new system of communications based on Microsoft Lync within three months were involved. According to the results of trial operation, a system proved as the reliable solution and met the expectations assigned to it that allowed to transfer it to commercial operation.

Result

According to instructions of the governor of the Magadan region within commercial operation a system is used more than on 500 PCs of the Government of the Magadan region. What allowed to reduce traveling expenses, expenses on communication payment of services, to increase efficiency of process of communications. From the point of view of IT reliability, simplicity in service, a scaling option and integration with the current IT infrastructure and the systems of traditional telephony became the main advantages. The most demanded opportunities of the solution appeared: presence statuses, possibility of the independent organization of meetings and conferences.

The government of the Magadan region highly appreciated results of system implementation of communications based on Microsoft Lync in the Government of the Magadan region and provided the corresponding recommendations about implementation of this solution in other structures of area.
