The Siberian regional center Emercom of Russia unrolled departmental VPN in the territory of the SFD

On March 16, 2015 the Softline company announced project completion on equipment of divisions of fire protection of the Siberian regional center Emercom of Russia telecommunication equipment and to connection to a digital network of communication of department.

Project Tasks

The Siberian regional center Emercom of Russia coordinates work of 12 subordinated divisions in the territory of all Siberian regional Federal District (SFD) and is responsible for ensuring operational interaction in case of occurrence of extreme situations.

The organization needed increasing the level of security of data exchange between divisions and improvement of information resource management. The management of the Siberian regional center Ministry of Emergency Situations set the task: equip fire garrisons with telecommunication equipment for connection to a departmental communication network.

The integrator in the project, according to the results of tender, selects Softline company.

Project Progress

Specialists of Softline proposed the complete solution consisting of subtasks:

• creation of new network with administration by the Siberian center Ministry of Emergency Situations;
• connection to federal network
• installation of information security tools.

The hardware and software system represents:

• telecom equipment (telecommunication cabinet, voice gateway, switch)
• the cryptogateway VipNet Coordinator providing enciphering of traffic.

Protection against differences of tension in network and short-term shutdowns of power supply is implemented using uninterruptible power supply unit.

Softline worked four months:

• the equipment is supplied,
• installation is carried out
• setup and connection of the equipment.

Works were carried out on 170 platforms of regional divisions of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Kemerovo, Tomsk, Irkutsk, Omsk, Novosibirsk regions and Zabaykalsky Krai.

The most difficult part of works - delivery of the equipment in geographically distributed and hardly accessible divisions of fire protection of Emercom of Russia in the territory of the SFD.

Project Results

The customer received interregional departmental network with complete enciphering of traffic (including voice messages and a video conferencing). Project implementation increased efficiency of interaction between divisions of department.
