Photobucket chose a cloud solution of Hitachi as the platform of data storage

On March 31, 2015 the Hitachi Data Systems corporation announced conclusion of an agreement with Photobucket company about providing corporate cloud services to it for the application providing a hosting of photos and images^[1].

Project Tasks

Having been faced the need of replacement of outdated infrastructure of network system of storage (NAS), the Photobucket company looked for more flexible and economic solution for placement of data which will allow to expand the storage capacity of the server and to pass from the NAS systems to object interfaces. Therefore solutions of HDS Photobucket Selects Hitachi Data Systems Cloud Solutions to Actively Host and Serve Billions of Customer Photos company are selected^[2].

According to representatives of company Photobucket, Hitachi offered the most attractive option. Possibilities of reliable partnership which are provided by HDS and the financial scheme of cooperation became the main argument in this crucial direction for Photobucket business.

Hitachi Content Platform provides high scalability by means of open interfaces, such as REST, Amazon S3 and Openstack Swift.

Project Progress

HDS provided all necessary services in integration, from creation of trial accounts for an applications connection capability check, before support and setup of the main Photobucket application, using infrastructure of Hitachi Cloud Services. This technological solution helps to increase safety and integrity of data which are ensured by a cloud service and the platform, and opens a possibility of conversion of the infrastructure direction of business for Photobucket.

Hitachi Data Systems proposes Photobucket companies a flexible open solution with the predicted cost level which is defined by payment for the actual consumption in process of expansion of a system – the technology does not require excess reservation of resources of storage and does not provide any unforeseen payments upon the demand of the supplier.

• In plans of partners - to place within the first year in a system more than 8 PBytes of client pictures and graphic objects, further their volume will annually increase by 1 PByte.

• Services of Hitachi Cloud Services on the Hitachi Content Platform platform will help Photobucket company to integrate the patent application so that to provide storage of two copies of an original media object in geographically distributed cloud of Hitachi.
