"Moscow tea factory": Implementing solution "Institute of Model Solutions: Process production 8" positively affected controllability

Questions of the TAdviser portal were answered by the head of information technology of Moscow Tea Factory companyIgor Smirnov.

TAdviser: Tell, please, how you came to need of complex automation of the enterprise, but not just replacements of one accounting program by another?

Igor Smirnov: "The Moscow tea factory" is a manufacturing enterprise. On start we, naturally, began with implementation of the accounting program. But as a result of the complete solution it did not turn out, accounting was separately, and production separately, in itself. From this the obvious output that we need to automate also accounting on production and warehouses followed.

There was it in 1995. Then domestic and foreign solutions were presented at the market many, but products of 1C company already then were considered as the standard across all Russia. We began the project of automation with early versions "1C: Enterprise", but all of them did not meet fully our requirements until we found the specialized software product "Institute of Model Solutions: Process production 8", developed on the 1C:Enterprise 8 platform clear to us. An important point for us was the fact that on behalf of specialists of Institute of Model Solutions we saw professional experienced implementers who could support us during the project and provide successful implementation.

TAdviser: What sections of production and business processes were in great need in automation most?

Igor Smirnov: Most production was in great need in automation of course. At us the technology chain begins with raw materials purchases, further there is a raw materials logistics to workshops, processing: all this had to be documentary reflected in a system. After we should consider an exit of finished goods to a warehouse and, eventually, sale. Data on all these stages had to be fixed in one program.

TAdviser: What business processes were as a result automated based on the solution of Institute of Model Solutions what departments work with a system, how many people?

Igor Smirnov: Today about 25 employees of the company are involved in work in a system. In a system practically all business processes, including purchases, production and sales, except for production planning are reflected. Initially we wanted to plan raw materials purchases to avoid overflow of warehouses. But at the moment we practically take raw materials "from wheels" that allows to postpone implementation of a subsystem of planning for the future.

TAdviser: It was how heavy to transfer the company to new "information" rails, implementation how difficult was given? Whether it was necessary to train employees in addition?

Igor Smirnov: Implement systems and begin fully it was very difficult to work with it, there was a big inertia from personnel. Without serious consequences the enterprise accounting as for them it was the major step in comparison with the antediluvian program used before forward passed to work in a new system. As for other divisions, including warehouse economy, production – it was difficult. We had to train literally employees in elements of work not only in the system, but also at the computer in principle as many workers of middle and advanced age did not own basic computer literacy. As a result we individually trained each employee in features of work in his working space. With assistance of specialists of Institute of Model Solutions the regulations of jobs which were issued to each employee were developed and were the accurate and clear instruction according to which the person entered data, performed all required operations and so on. Thanks to such careful approach in 2-3 weeks at us everything earned.

At the same time it is important to understand how difficult accounting problem we managed to solve as our production turns out products in kilograms, we sell tea in boxes wholesale, and in shop we deliver in pieces of packs. And we could consider all this data set, having provided accurate interrelation between them.

TAdviser: A system is in operation since 2011: for certain, now you already precisely can note those visible, measurable advantages which it gave to your business – what they?

Igor Smirnov: The first and most important advantage – now we consciously keep account on warehouses. We know what raw materials or products where in what units and as are stored. Secondly, we can fully do reports on production accounting – in cuts necessary to us, flexibly configured by different parameters, including on sales, on the range, on warehouses, on regions. These moments are extremely important for the general controllability of the company.

TAdviser: Whether the project after end of the main phase of implementation developed? Whether you finished functionality? Whether there are plans for use of add-on modules of a system in the future?

Igor Smirnov: Yes, during operation we carried out completion of functionality of a system, configured it under ourselves, including configured work the client bank, developed new reports on requirements of accounting, finished the module automating activity of the laboratory which is engaged in blending of tea. Development plans also are. As I already mentioned above, we would like to automate planning.
