Content

On July 3, 2015 the Allied Telesis company announced project completion of creation of a distributed network by request of the Rostov State Construction University. The project was executed by ДВ.ком[1].

Project Tasks

The university needed consolidation of the body uniform network infrastructure. It was required to provide reservation of communication channels and active equipment, to provide a possibility of expansion of network in the future.

In the operating network cascade connection of uncontrollable switches without separation into segments of VLAN and reservation was used. The management of university made the decision on step-by-step upgrade of an obsolete equipment and expansion of capacity of channels.

Project Progress

For project implementation the standard three-level network topology is chosen: core, aggregation, access. All selected switches support technology of hardware stacking that helped to reduce project cost at the first stage. In the beginning in a core of network installed one modular shassiyny SwitchBlade x908 switch in the central body of the university, and stacks from switches of aggregation of a series h610, in the remote body, were connected to it on fiber optic channels at a speed of 1 Gbps. Further, in a stack to the first SwitchBlade x908 installed the second switch for reliability and performance improvement, and aggregation nodes on the platform h610 switched to ports 10 Gbps using aggregation of channels on different switches of a stack. Access switches of series 8000S 8000GS were also connected to aggregation switches h610 on the same technology.

Project Results

As a result of execution of the project the distributed network of university with protection against loops, reservation of channels and devices, separation into logical segments of VLAN with routing between them and necessary policy of access and traffic management is created.
