Project date: 2014/03  - 2015/04

On July 23, 2015 the bank "Opening" announced end joint from HP the project on creation of a system of counteraction to money muling on the platform data warehouses under control of analytical cluster DBMS HP Vertica[1].

Project Results

Alexey Blagirev, the development director of the systems of analytics and the reporting of Otkrytiye bank, noted: "HP Vertica is used in our organization for solving of tasks of the business analysis and the corporate reporting. For an AML system the separate storage where data from several external systems and on their basis, using the configured statistical models of software of SAS AML are periodically loaded is created, reveals abnormal situations and also territorially non-standard transactions and suspicious transactions which are dragged out on time and distributed".

A system allows to observe regulatory requirements on identification and collecting of obligatory customer information, to estimate risks of participation of these or those clients in washing and to adjust these risks depending on actions of the client. Data on the revealed anomalies or violations of standard business rules are automatically transferred to a banking system. A system is capable to prepare the obligatory and analytical reporting and to support both the Russian, and international requirements in the field of counteraction of money laundering.

DBMS Vertica the company of the same name which in 2005 was created by Michael Stounbreyker developed. He took part in creation DBMS Ingres Informix, VoltDB and PostgreSQL. Advantages Vertica - mass and parallel architecture, it allows to process arrays of at the same time arriving information in the parallel mode. Vertica works in a cluster from inexpensive servers of standard architecture under management Linux, has linear scalability and allows to organize the high-performance storages working with big amounts of data. By words Alexey Blagirev, along with HP Vertica bank considered an alternative IBM Netezza, Sybase IQ and an option Oracle Database.

The cost of the license Vertica is calculated not on number of processors, and on DB volume that allows to increase performance without purchase of additional licenses. The Otkrytiye bank purchased the license for volume 51 TB. For July 23, 2015 11 TB data are used, they are processed in a cluster from five nodes.
